I hope you feel better soon.

I came down with a cold a few days before Christmas, just before we flew to New York City to spend the holiday.

I don't know if it was the stress of the travel or what, but it took me about three weeks to really get over the cold.

I hope yours goes away sooner. Take care of you.

I like the Grandpa story too. Maybe you can get some more tissues to stuff in there and keep using it?

I lost my Grandmother (memere - pronounced meh-may) this past September and was devastated. You are lucky to have had a close relationship with your Grandpa... not everyone does, and it's such a unique relationship. It's hard to even describe it to say, my husband who grew up with little contact with his grandparents.

Every now and then something reminds me of her and the pain rears up again... A big hug to you.

Collard: yes, it's really good when you explain things like that, and yes I'm feeling better

sunshinecity: yes, he was an out-of-season Santa with all the games in the bags; and pooh bear and friends did a good job I say

Barb: you're right! some of this days I was sick in bed and the others I was really busy catching up with all the errands I left undone but now I'm back

viewfinder: mine is almost gone, how's yours?

Sandra: red sore nose is one of the worst thing of this cold but I forgot to mention that Lyn brought some tissues with vitamin E and aloe so the nose is better and I'll have to ask him about the friend :)

Allan: I'm better now, it's almost two weeks and I'm not 100% cured so I think it will last three weeks just like yours

Jissy: yes, it really helped a lot all the things he did.

Didier: board games remind me of my childhood playing with aunts and cousins but I don't know how to play backgammon, you'll have to teach me one day :)

ParaScubaSailor: I'm glad you liked the story and that's a good idea!

Frère Jacques: he does, he's got the power to put a smile in my face and make me think of my granpa :)

Erica: I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, the first months after their departure are always the more difficult, maybe as time passes all the pain will fade a little and leave the good memories with you... and I think your memere is an angel watching over you, that's how I think of my grandma and grandpa. Hugs.

This Picture

Sunday was a -kinda- DFlickr meeting, the reason? one of the girls of the group got in touch with a guy from a magazine called Chilango. It turned out they were interested in the group and wanted to take a couple of pics for a section named Urban Tribes.

I was still feeling a little bit sick but, much to my luck the weather improved so I went to the meeting. When the magazine photographer arrived he couldn't believe the amount of people, he was expecting 5-10 of us and was thrilled to knew we'll be at least 15 but wasn't prepared to see 28 cameras pointed at him.

Sadly as the sun went down I felt sick again so I had to leave early, missing a part of the shoot and -snif!- the afterwards beers.

Funny thing: I was pushed away and landed on Lyn's legs when a very rude man wanted a seat in the Metrobús

Dark Fields of Pain

That's the maximum amount of light I can stand today... Monday and I have a terrible headache that gets worse if I move so quiet time in my bed it's prescribed for today, guess my sunday escapade wasn't the best to do while recovering from this cold. And bad news, Lyn's getting a cold too, mark this event tho 'cause it's the first time he gets a cold from me.

30 * january * The Quiet One

The Quiet One

This is what most of my childhood years looked like, being the only girl around I ended up playing with boys -hence the tomboy nick my grandpa gave me some times- and mostly reading one of the many books in my grandma's bookcase or in the one I had at home. When I was out there running and playing I laughed and screamed but when I was sitting in the living room I was a really quiet kid.

Reading is a thing I enjoy very much but lately haven't been able to concentrate because my mind wanders between one of the things I'm worried about and the next one. This tuesday I was feeling better but still had some remains of the headache so I took a book and decided to get some rest and happily by the end of the day I was feeling so much better.

And the book is not huge, it's small but it was close to the camera, that's why I look tiny :P and the pic is inspired by Alison's

The sneezing and the runny nose are gone, only the cough remains, but I'm still feeling a little tired. Lyn is definitely sick and I'm frustrated because I can't be with him -weird situation I'll explain later-, what do you guys think would be a nice way to reciprocate for all his caring when I was sick?

In the afternoon I decided to turn on the Playstation and grabbed a cd marked Lord of the Rings, it was a different game called Primal but still played it

The Wonders at your Feet

Thursday was a busy day, I went to the bank, sloooow service. Later my mom and I went to get a pedicure and then to the supermarket. I got home in time to have a meeting with a guy from the company that will handle my retirement savings. In the night Lyn came to pick me up to go to the movies, we watched Apocalypto and talked and talked. It was a good day after all the sick ones :)

02 * february * Red is a Slow Colour

Red is a Slow Colour

Every year, my goal is to take less cabs, every year I fail. This friday I took 6 of them but first things first.

There's a position available in one Embassy, it's a great position and pays well BUT I have no previous experience in that kind of position. Nevermind, I decided to give it a try so I took a cab to the place where I'm printing my application. Then I took a cab to the nearest subway station, luckily there are seats available in the subway, one of my toes is in pain. Out of the subway and into another cab.

The embassy is full of people delivering applications, this is a really nice position, no wonder the amount of people. Out of the embassy and I decided to walk through the nearby forest to get to the subway entrance, my feet say: NO, I obey and yell TAXI!

Later at night I took a cab to pick up Lyn at work, we go to the supermarket and later we took a cab to my house to have coffee with my parents. Traffic jam, lots of red lights, it's friday night and everybody wants to be some place else, I snapped a photo just as the driver looked at me in the mirror.

I learned: that walking in the forest with high heeled booths it's not a good idea.

Love the reading shot- nice and contrasty and sharp. I feel like we were similar as kids. Do you still hang out with boys (or... men) a lot? I find that I have to seek out women sometimes. I have some dear women friends, but... I don't know. Maybe part of it now too is that I do a lot of outdoorsy things like climb and kayak and it can be harder to find women that do those things. It's also hard to find women that aren't bitchy or catty. In fact, we have a group of women here that get together once a month (this just started a couple months ago) to hang out. A time to meet other women that your friends see as... well, not bitchy or catty. ;)

I really rather be with boys/men, the other day my brother gave me an explanation about this situation but I won't explain it now since I've been meaning to take a pic and make a post here

And -this is lame- I don't have female friends... I don't know if it's the bitchy/catty situations, it's just that I seem to have more in common with men. There's this girl tho I really like to talk to and consider my friend, the only bad thing is that she lives in another state so it's mostly an internet friendship

03 * february * Falling Away with you

Falling Away with you

February 5th is the anniversary of our Constitution, that meant Lyn had the day off so we planned to go on a mini trip to visit his family.

Here comes the tricky part because that's not what we did, that was the "official" version so if anyone ever asks just say you didn't know anything. Instead of doing that we stayed here.

I went to pick him up after work and ran into the person who complicated my life every time she could -I used to work there-, she waved goodbye saying "have a nice week-end", you could feel the anger in her voice.

Grabbed a bite and the four of us -me, Lyn and our daughter and son- checked in a hotel. Nice relaxed evening and delicious late night dinner. Lots of plans for tomorrow.

I snapped this pic a few minutes before walking out the door with my suitcase and backpack, running late and still taking pics, but it was all for the sake of this group :)

EDIT
I learned: to let go some bad feelings, they're not gone for good but I'm in the process

04 * february * Flying

Flying

We had a schedule for sunday:

- Getting up early
- Breakfast
- Visit the Anthropology Museum: Persian exhibition
- Visit the Zoo
- Chinese buffet in a nearby restaurant

But the comfort won and we stayed in bed 'till noon, ate in a closeby market, then I decided we should visit the zoo first, we arrived there just in time to hear: we're closing in 30 minutes :P almost all the animals were back in their sleeping places, we hardly saw a couple of them.

The museum closed at 7:00 so we headed that way. after a long walk we arrived at 5:30 to find out that the fee of the museum is three times the normal fee if you enter after 5:00, I thought it was too much so we walked around and I took some pics.

We headed back to the hotel but instead of going to our room we went to the movies across the street, we saw Km 31 -we've been seeing the trailer for this one for over a year and they just released it, it wasn't that good. Drop by the supermarket to buy some things for dinner and went back to our cozy room 'cause the temperature was going down.

I learned: that I should check out the food before ordering, my breakfast was huuuuge.

In the pic: the "Voladores de Papantla" doing their ceremonial flight. Time flies, they fly, I fly...

Yow ! - Nightmare Yow ! I would be mesmerized at the sight of this but at the same time frightened to death...this is the stuff my nightmares are made of !! Really - the shot is entertaining and the background of the clouds makes the mood. Would have loved to see this one in person..

I had a friend in highschool who couldn't even stand the sound of their music, when she was a little girl watched one of these man fall and die. All in al it's a nice ceremony to watch, luckily we got there at the exact time they began the descent.

05 * february * Sweet Child o' mine

Sweet Child o' mine

Monday marked the end of our mini trip and as usual we got up late, dropped the backpacks at Lyn's place, had breakfast -at 2:00 pm- and went downtown to a videogames/cameras/dvds market, Lyn bought me a couple of music dvds but we were in a sleepy mood so we got out of there pretty fast and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Then we went to my house were we ate the Pozole my mom cooked for my brother's Super Bowl party. That's one of my favorite meals.

In the pic you see my daughter, Baby Satrina -see Alison :). Her story in tomorrow's post

I learned: that a kiss in the neck is my favorite way of waking up

Kiss in the neck.... hmmmm.... To me, the side of the neck, near the top, just below the ear (no, you don't need a map to get there!) is one of the sexiest places where to kiss a woman.

mbauhs: maybe you need to see us together to see the resemblance :)

BellaGaia: she's really cute, it's a shame she doesn't live with me

Allan: ok, I won't tell her... maybe when she grows up will be just like me, who knows...

Jissy: yes, pozole is really delicious and I'll tell her you said that -not the waxing part of course :)

ParaScubaSailor: that was the exact place I was talking about, yep, a great place it is

Tom: It's good to see you back here, glad you liked the pics and thanks for your kind words.

Didier: you're welcome :)

'stee: thanks, I really had a great weekend.

A stunner there on Feb 4th... perfect for b/w too. Those clouds really add a lot of atmosphere.

Neck kisses... *melts* yes, neck kisses... we should all get more neck kisses.

Yes, I should try it at b/w, and the clouds made my "photographic" day

Yes, neck kisses and a little bit of neck nibbling too :)

Sweet Child o' mine too

One clear April Monday morning two years ago I got to work and as soon as I walked in my office I saw this cute little guy sitting in one of my desks. Lyn gave it to me. Back then our relationship was kept secret although everybody in the company guessed we were an item, this baby set things straight -and made some people feel jealous.

His name is Raffles -one of my coworkers baptized him- and for almost a year he sat on my desk every day. He's my companion in every trip I've made since then and now lives with me. He's got my eyes, my mouth and my nose.

Baby Satrina lives with his dad, I gave her to him seven months ago. I was at a new job missing Lyn terribly, one day I went to the street market and saw her. When I gave her to him I said: she's identical to me, skinny legs, long arms, big round belly, big cheeks and messy hair. I only get to see her when we go out on a trip that's why I took her pic yesterday.

Raffles used to be really dilligent but since he moved with me he's become a little lazy, loves to play videogames and surf the web, Lyn says I spoil him. Baby Satrina watches cartoons, goes to bed early and adores her dad.

Now you know my babies
