eelend's 2007

eelend PRO 8:11am, 2 January 2007
So here it is. 2007 has arrived and I feel it's going to be a good year for me. Better than 2006, at least.
I think I needed some kind of change, some kind of rebirth. I don't know if this new year will give me the change I need, but I think it's beautiful starting a year (365 days, wow!) and I'm excited.

I'm glad I spent Christmas with my family, and here they are. Only dad is missing, but well. Next year, we'll see him in this picture:

Strange Sunday.
I woke up late, I did some things at home and had lunch with my friend Ruth (she's amazing, one of those people that steal your heart when you meet them; this is her: www.flickr.com/photos/eelend/252417657/in/set-342090 ). Mmmmmm Italian food... I love it!!
Okay, I'll say it, it's true, I think I like all kind of food and all kind of cooking. I just love eating :D

We were talking for hours and then I came back home, I didn't feel very well (I suppose the food didn't do me good :S), so I had a relaxed afternoon, writing and reading and playing with Shanghai. Not bad.

Today (Tuesday the 13rd) is the bad luck day in Spain. I don't use to believe in these things, but I sept like hell last night. And some of my classmates and friends told me the same thing. My photography teacher thinks that happened because something (like an earthquake or other kind of natural catastrophe) is going to happen soon.
Unbelievable.

But it was a nice day, though (I have my fingers crossed, it didn't end yet). I developed lithographic film and I liked it a lot (and I'm so happy because we're going to work on that on Thursday, too), and my afternoon work's been boring but quiet, so... :) Fine.

Sweet dreams for you all.

In the end, nothing happened yesterday. There wasn't any catastrophe and the day ended well. But I didn't sleep very much (I went to bed at 2 am and I woke up this morning at 8 am, and Shanghai's been jumping on me all night), though. Anyway.

Somebody sent me flowers today! :D:D:D
It's been such a surprise... because nobody has done it in the last 7 years. I don't mean I missed it –to be honest, I don't know if I did–, but it's been nice.
And it kept me smiling all day :)

It's been a very stressing day. I woke up not very soon (at 9 am. That's late for me, because I feel like I have lost lots of time sleeping :S), I went to my photo class (I'll come back tomorrow and I'll work at the lab on my own, hehe) and then I went on ten thousand errands (went to the bank, bought a vase for the flowers, bought a lot of things I needed...) and I got home soooooooo late, that I just could cook, eat and come to work :P

But well, let's be honest: I had ten minutes to take some pic of the flowers :D

And these are my neighbourg's sheets. I saw them the other day and I could do nothing but shoot them:

Friday, friday, friday at last. I went to the lab this morning and developed some photographs, but I wasn't very inspired and I came back home soon.
I haven't done anything interesting this morning, really. I was too tired and too sad (one of those days the world seems to be the most horrible place to live in, you know), so I had lunch and came to work.

The afternoon was better. Jaime came to the office because he wanted to choose the pantone colours and the paper to print his wedding's invitations.
Tomorrow, we (Iván, Gonzalo, Fani and me) are going to have lunch with Adriana and him, to celebrate Adriana's birthday. I can't wait :)

I wish I could sleep for days tonight. A collegue just came and told me my subway line is not operative :S So I'll have to walk until I find an entrance to another one.
Fuck.

Anyway. It's Friday. I'll have lunch with my friends tomorrow and I'll play with my cat when I get home.
Everything's beautiful.

Have sweet dreams and a beautiful weekend.

Windy Monday

I haven't slept very much. I've got used to get home from work at 12:30 am and I couldn't close my eyes last night. And I was soooo tired this morning. But well, I prefer to wake up early anyway.

So I went to work, I had a German class and I went to pick up my train tickets to Málaga (only three days left, I'm more nervous everyday).

And María (one of my kendo mates, one of the most wonderful people I've met here) came home and we had a tea while we talked and talked. She's so nice. She's having a great time now and I feel happy for her.
I promised I'd take some photos of her at the studio, let's see if we can do it soon. I hope my photo classmates don't want to do the same thing just right now.

Madrid? Ahhh Eupore's version of New York City...the city that never sleeps. I spent a few short days there during my honeymoon. I hadn't even wanted to go, but the travel agent insisted we stop there on the way home from the Canary Islands. Turned out that the stop in Madrid was the highlight. I still have very fond memories of a little cafe' just down the street from the hotel.

2 memories from Madrid:
1. It's the only place where I've ever had someone try to steal my wallet. I was on the train and 2 middle eastern men got on...one move in front of me and the other behind in the crowded car. I keep my wallet in my front pocket and I felt a hand going into my back one. I turned and looked and the hand retreated...then...Oh the balls!...I felt a hand trying to get into my front pocket. I tried to move away, but the 2nd guy was trying to block me. I pushed away and turned quickly facing the thief...fortunately the train stopped just then and the 2 men quickly exited.

2. My wife and I didn't speak Spanish, and so didn't realize that the times had changed to Daylight Savings Time the night before out flight home. We were packed up and walking down the street to the cafe I mentioned when I noticed a street clock was an hour fast. I thought it must be a mistake and comments so. Then we went inside and I saw another clock in the Cafe was fast as well. Horror struck me and we asked. We went from having plenty of time to relax and get to the airport to having to sprint out of the cafe' and hail a taxi. We got there in time, but oi what a scary sprint that was.

Thanks for bring me back there!

eelend PRO 11 years ago

th.

I didn't sleep at all (I suppose it was because I was very nervous), but I didn't feel tired when I got up.
So I went to the train station, I met Elena Medel, Ana Cibeira, Sofía Rhei (three of the poets that would travell with me), Nacho Vleming and César González (the art director and the photograph of the project), and we got in the train together. It was a nice journey, full of laughs and coffees.

And we finally got to Malaga. It was a sunny and bright day there, it looked like summer. We had lunch with some of the other poets (Carmen López, Miryam Reyes and María Eloy) and, after picking up Yolanda Castaño at the hotel (yes, I know, we were dripping) we inaugurated the poetic conference called "Transgeneración 1.0".
Carmen, Ana and Miryam read their poems and we saw the photo exhibition (11 young poets dressed up as classic writers). It was amazing. César is a great photographer and his work was really impressive –I was Edgar Allan Poe, of course. Here you can see one of the pics he took of me, at last :)

We also met Julio Neyra, the man who directs the "Generación del 27" organization (the cultural centre where the exhibition was shown and where we had to read our poems). That man is fantastic. He loves poetry and he likes organizating this kind of meetings and conferences.

We had dinner with Julio and Almoraima, a sweet girl that also works at the "Generación del 27" and found a hotel and got the train tickets for us.
And we finally went to bed, because it was late and we had to sleep. Friday would be a hard day.

What a nice and busy day!!!
Early in the morning, we went to the County Council of Málaga. There, there was a press conference, where María Eloy, Elena Medel, the vice-president of the County Council and other woman (I'm sorry, I know she was a politician but I really don't remember which her position was) talked about the project.

Julio Neyra took us to the publishing house where our anthology was printed (it was a lovely place. I wish I could work there) and, after talking and discussing about poetry and art at a round table (it was very interesting, although I think it should have been longer), we had lunch (ooooooh, I thought I was going to die, I ate and ate and ate), we picked up the last poet (Julieta Valero) and started to read poems again.
It was my turn and, although I was nervous (I don't like reading aloud in front of people), I think I did it well. I was happy because I could read my poems in Basque and Spanish and, after the reading, people told me they liked them a lot :D

So we had dinner with Almoraima (it sounds like I've done nothing but eating, doesn't it?) and had some drinks. We came back to the hotel at 3 am and we slept like babies :)

Last day in Málaga. The eitght of us (we were eleven at first, but three of the poets came back to work on Friday night or Saturday morning) went to the beach, we dressed up again and César took some group photographs. I hope I can see them soon.
It was a sunny day again and we wore disguises over our own clothes. It was funny, but terrible. I just wanted to take them off and get in the water :P

We had our last lunch with Julio Neyra and his wife (a wonderful and nice woman, just like him) and had a great time all together. Jahel (dressed up as Lord Byron) and me wore our moustaches until the waiters brought the desserts :D Hahaha it was really funny.

And we caught the train and came back to Madrid. We arrived to Atocha a few minutes before midnight and it was great because there were thousands of free taxis and we got home very soon.

And there, my sweet Shanghai, who was loving as ever.

When it finished, we had lunch together but it wasn't as good as we thought it would be. We were 15 people and it was 3:30 pm already, and it was not easy to find a place to eat.
At last, we got it. The food was good, but the waiters took a looooooooooooong time to serve it (we started to eat at 5 pm. I was starving!). And, finally, they wanted us to pay three coffees we didn't drunk :S Anyway.

Everyone went home, then. I had a little walk, had a coffee at a nice coffee shop while I read and came back home.

March, 29
th.

I don't know what I exactly did this morning, but I haven't had time for anything. I went to my photo class, I bought some food and it was already 1 pm when I realized and I had to cook something fast before coming to work.

So I did a strange mix of salad, loin and spaghetti with tuna. And it was tasty!
My cooking experiments always surprise me :P

I feel a bit sleepy, but there is only 1 hour left and I'll be free again.

Sweet dreams for you all, my dears.
