eelend's 2007

eelend says:

So here it is. 2007 has arrived and I feel it's going to be a good year for me. Better than 2006, at least.
I think I needed some kind of change, some kind of rebirth. I don't know if this new year will give me the change I need, but I think it's beautiful starting a year (365 days, wow!) and I'm excited.

I'm glad I spent Christmas with my family, and here they are. Only dad is missing, but well. Next year, we'll see him in this picture:

August, 1
we.

Hot, hot and hot –43ºC at 2 pm :P
I met Jaime's brother, Iñigo, at the bus station. He's going to be in Madrid until Saturday and I had to give him the keys of Jaime and Adriana's place. By the way, I gave him a CD with the photos I took at the wedding.
I want to see the others' pics!!!! :-/

It wasn't a busy day at work. I told my mates I was leaving and they wished me luck. It's strange. I'm leaving, but I'm still here. It's like being at two places and nowhere at the same time.

I'm assuming that photo is NOT of Iñigo... :-)

43 degrees... OMG that is hot! ugh

When I was in Madrid one summer.. the first week it felt like heaven to me, because the heat is dry compared to the wet muggy heat we have here in Missouri.

Then my body acclimiatized and then it felt HOT all over again :P

Stay cool eelend!

August, 3
fri.

Not a good day.
It was nice when it started and it's been ok until this afternoon, but now it's... I don't know.

I found out a friend I loved so much was trying to cause a rift between Iván and me ??? He's been telling lies about Iván to me and to other friends and I just don't understand it.
It's childish. It's stupid.
And HE is stupid; man, he's almost 35!!!, where did he think we were, at nursery school?

Anyway, I'm not going to spend one second of my time thinking about it. He may have spoiled my afternoon, but he's not going to spoil my weekend.

August, 4
sat.

No sleep at all (I think this will make me come back to the insomniac club, hehe). I woke up early and I really didn't know what to do, because it was so hot that I couldn't do anything without feeling I was going to melt down.

But I finally cleaned, had a shower and met my kendo mates at the China Té restaurant (oh, how I love that place). My fortune cookie said something beautiful (they use to be sooooo surrealist), and I took another one for my sister, he. After lunch, we went to the cinema and watched "The Simpsons", hehe. I liked it. I first thought it was going to be awful, but it's ok. It's very funny, like a loooong episode.

Came back home and did a bit of nothing :P
Sofa, watched "Requiem for a dream" again, read a bit (Jorge Oteiza's –www.museooteiza.org– poetry) and tried to sleep.

Time for comments now:

March 7th and 8th
Shangai is lovely, very good picture with the reflections on the mirror. And the one with the 3 frames is even greater. Lovely, beautiful cat.
I like the sound of wind as well, and i love to feel it when i'm walking. My daughter laughs a lot with the wind, she also loves it.

15th
Your neighbours sheets, i would love to shoot them as well. Love laundry photos.

18th
"I find it amazing, really, because we are very different people but we get on so well with each other." This is the one thing it amazes me about friendships. I feel the same about my very best friends, we are so different and yet is so good to spend time together.

21th
Wow, Atocha station is so big, haven't had that idea.

22th
You look just great as Edgar Alan Poe. Great photo, very expressive. You seem to have had such a great time there woth the other guys, it's so good to do things we like. Great photos, all of them, can't go on and commenting on everyone or i won't leave my seat today. Great window though, for the 20 th and a beautiful building on the 24 th

27th
Such a great sky....

April 1th
Your name in the cover of a book, feels great, doesn't it? Congrats.

2th
I feel just like CollardGreen said: "As always - coming here is a treat to the senses...when you feel tired, we feel tired...when you rest, we rest...when you dance, we dance...Lead on !"

5th
great colourfulk portrait you took.

11th
Carmen's shot is great. You really do something with your images and words. It's almost as we can feel your feelings. Amazing diary, how could i have been away for so long, i wonder....

And today i'm stopping on the 14th with the wonderful view of that iris flower. I have to go and prove to the irs that i payed my taxes. Can't beleive in those people, everything is done on the internet now and they seem to miss everything as if it was done by paper.... Long and boring afternoon for me. See you later today oir tomorrow.

Back to work (one day less).
I felt a bit sick today. I don't know if it was because of the hot (when is this summer going to end? Jeez), but I was dizzy all day.

More or less, until I met Iván, Jaime and Adriana. They (J & A) told us about their honeymoon (they came back this morning, they're still thinking about rum and beach and sea and other marvellous things) and we almost got drunk while we were talking (too much hot = too many beers; that's life, huh?).
What a great afternoon.

And now, a bit of CSI Las Vegas (of course) and bed.
Mmmmm I love it, hehehe!

Another wonderful macro of a beautiful flower. One has to love it.

on the 16th you said: i love doing whatever with my friends and so do i, it's just great being around our friends. Lucky for you, you are with your friends and can spend good times around them.

17th
It's really strange to stay talking to someone we don't know, your right about that. But it's nice when we do it and the strange has something that make us feel good. Didn't know about that passion for dark chocolate and it's nice that exchange you do with your friend: cheese for chocolate. If we ever meet i'll bring you some chocolate, dark chocolate... :))
Sorry to ear about your friends G mother.

18/19th
Fantastic shot with a great angle of Tamara. Do you know what i envy? Weekends in Barcelona, i have to go there very soon or i'll go crazy. I dream about it so often that it seems i've been there already. Congrats on the new camera.

23th
Monday after a great weekend in Barcelona with a comic fair, i would be bored and tired as well, but you took such a great picture of that guy. His expression and movement are great, congrats.

25th
Hope that ache in your back was just one of those things and it's gone. Pere is a very good looking guy....

Time to put Carlota to sleep, will come back a bit later today or tomorrow. It's been a pleasure reading your diary and seing your fantastic pictures.

After another boring morning at work (one less, yay!), I bought a case for my F100 and some BW rolls that I'm going to use during the Danube trip, hehe.

My sister called me and gave me bad news. Mum had a thrombosis in her right eye and now she can't see anything with it. The doctor said she's right and healthy (she's maybe the healthiest person I know) and, although she's taking it very well, we are worried anyway.

I had a terrible headache and I felt as if the right side of my face was numb. Specially because of mum's thrombosis (she talked to the doctor and it seems everything's going to be ok :D yessssss), I was worried and I got there imagining awful things.
Luckily, it seems I only had a very, very big migraine, surely as a result of the air conditioning of the office.

In the afternoon (well, a few hours later), Iván and me went to Jaime and Adriana's place. We saw some photos of the wedding, some photos of their honeymoon... and we tried the Dominican coffee (the best I've ever tried) and the Dominican rum they brought from Punta Cana. It was amazing. I don't like rum and I don't use to drink it, but this one tasted like sugar and it was fantastic.

We saw "Full Tilt Boogie", the documentary on "From Dusk till Dawn" and Adriana made burritos for dinner, yumyumyum.

Just one day and I'll be out of Cromotex forever :D
After not much sleep, I came to work, had a coffee and yes, I finally took the phone. I called Teresa Muñoz, the woman I talked to last Thursday, and told her that I wouldn't work for them, in spite of the money. I'd rather to do the other job (it's more interesting) and, besides, I had already promised I'd do it and I didn't want to leave them in the lurch.
She was surprised at my decision, but she really was very kind and told me to keep her phone number and call her, if I ever needed anything.

And then I had a nice afternoon, although I did nothing :P
I had a siesta (hehe) and called my friend Esti and my grandma Juli to tell them "Happy birthday!" (my grandma is already 95, wow!!!! And she keeps on telling us that she'll never go on holidays to the seaside because it's full of old people :O).

I met my friend Lidia –the one who I always meet in Barcelona. Remember our cheese-chocolate exchange? ;) –, who had came to Madrid on Monday, with her daughter, husband and parents.
Some friends joined us and we went to buy some comicbooks (of course) and have some drinks. It was great.

But when the night came I was very tired (lack of sleep, as always :P)

I went on some errands and I caught the bus to San Sebastian. I arrived there (six hours later!) and my friends Leyre and Iratxe picked me up at the bus station and took me to Leyre's place.
She lives at a wonderful country house (this is the room where I use to sleep every time I visit them) with her husband, which is amazing.
We were five for dinner (Leyre and her husband, Eneko, Iratxe and her husband, Antton, and me): Chinese food, beer and lots of talking about everything. Outside, crickets and darkness. Isn't it great???

It's been a while, so quite a bit to catch-up on! Some beautiful photos, and vraiment well done on the job decision - you should defintely go with what's more interesting, and I'm sure the loyalty will pay off :) Hope the weekend was top!

August, 18
sat.

I woke up early, helped Leyre taking care of the dogs –one of her dogs has been mother recently and she had to shelter the –seven!!!– puppies before we left (Eneko had already gone to work, he couldn't do it). Then she took me to Mues. I wanted her to stay until Sunday, but she had to come back :(

I was a pair of hours at the swimming pool with my friends, and then we had dinner and went to Los Arcos (a village at 5 km from Mues) fiesta.
I had a great time there. We danced and drank and laughed a lot. It was already 9 am when we decided to come back home, so we bought some fritters for our families (it's like a tradition; we always buy fritters when we come back home in the morning). Well, it was breakfast time ;)

Oh, this is Aina, mi friend Lidia's daughter.

Hi Eelend
A week to catch up on. May I add my congratulations on the job decision, I agree you made the honourable choice, and will be rewarded for it. I was also certain this was what you would do.

Quite a job to catch up with you... Lots of wonderful pics and a very interesting diary.

Regarding the job offers, I think you made the right decision, especially if you plan on working there for a while. Better do an interesting job than earn a bit more. Now, if the difference is hooooge, then things might be different.

Good luck for your results tomorrow.

August, 19
sun.

I slept two hours :P and I felt as if I was dead all morning.
I said goodbye –until September or October :(– to my friends and family and caught the bus back to Madrid.

I fell asleep at the bus and, when I arrived to Madrid, my neck hurt a lot. But I was strong enough to call my friend Pere. He's thinking about moving to Madrid, so I told him that he could come and stay at my place while I'm in my trip. He told me he would call me back on Wednesday, we talked a bit more and I went to bed.

I was sooooo tired.

Ooh - haven't been round in a while...let's see - favorite of the last series is 15 AUG (although all are snappy!). I like the way the cafe umbrellas interplay - and its in color too ! Little girl shots - wonderful job catching them candid...good stuff here.

Quiet day.
I saw –at last!– The Bourne Ultimatum!!! Woo-hooo!
The best of the three, I think. I enjoyed it a lot.

(And yes, not very much sleep again. My neck hurt...)

tu.

I picked up the RM results (I don't understand medical language, but everything seems to be ok :D) and went to Jaime and Adriana's place, to have dinner with them and Iván.

And we ate pizza and drank beer and smoked and played a board game until 4 am.
Great. But we were soooooooo dead.
