Breathed upon is the literal meaning of the word inspiration.

Last year a lot changed in my life...I lost a lot of my comfort zones and direction in life. Things I thought were certain suddenly weren't.

I lost Inspiration

This year I will re-discover it.

Happy New Year!

Thanks I love that sky too! :D
AllanThinks 11 years ago
Wonderful composition in that photo of the rail yard.

The contrast between the parked cars and those on the highway is cool.

And the sky is so dramatic.

You say it is not very exciting, but I would disagree.

The photo makes me want to see it in person.

Tonight I was over at James' to watch the second half of a TV show he had on DVD and to sample some of his (rather strong) homebrew beer.

James poured me a bottle and was telling me how this was a good beer....it was very clear (meaning all the sugar and yeast had become alcohol!)

It was good and we drunk plenty whilst watching the DVD (and talking all the way through it!)

So today's picture is in homage to the "jimbrew" 2007 vintage. I love the colour....it's so rich.

and yes I am drunk as I write.

:D
lramiro520 11 years ago
mmmm...homebrew! my boyfriend did a lot of homebrew when he was living in Copenhagen, but i think he's only done it once since moving to the US in '03. I'll have to pester him about that!! Thanks for the inspiration :-)

The entire country has been battered by storms, rain and 80mph winds and Southampton was no different...Ashley's train was cancelled this evening along with most other as trees were blown on the line and the streets were strewn with the broken umbrellas and garbage bins.

I saw this on my way to work from lunch and I loved the staggered effect that was caused.

It made me smile, but I still don't want to shy away from the news that at least nine people were killed today due to the weather including a two year old.

That makes me very sad indeed.

Ash and I went out for a couple of hours this evening with some people I work with for drinks....to be honest I wasn't in the mood....we are both bored of noisy super-pubs and the booze swilling customers they attract and if it wasn't for some great conversation from a couple of people I think we both would have left early.

On the way home we were messing about with the camera and this photo stood out in particular.

Ash was standing on a light embedded in the pavement outside an office block....I don't know how this "semi-transparency" was caused but I love it.

I often take a shortcut back to work from town through an allyway. This is one of the buildings that backs onto that ally. I've always wondered what this place was like in it's heyday. The customers that passed through it's doors, the photos that were developed here...all those memories.

I love how advertisments were painted on the walls in such an elegant fashion, although I'm not really sure why it seems that one has been painted over by the other without removing the other.

I'm glad they didn't.
AllanThinks 11 years ago
I've always loved ads painted on brick buildings. Especially old ones like that. It makes me wonder about the businesses that once occupied the buildings.

Tonight I went to my first meeting of the Winchester Photography Society.

It was really interesting with one of the members giving a talk of her travels around South America.

I'm also hoping that I'll be able to drawn on the experiences of the vast membership....last night there were at least 70 people there and from the Q&A session at the end it was obvious a number of members have a great knowledge.

Ashley and I went to see one of my favourite films today....except this was my first time on the big screen! Our local independent cinema is showing a season of 80's classics.

I dont know why more cinemas don't do this...There are so many classic films I would love to see on the big screen!

I got the third volume of the excellent comic series "The Walking Dead" today thanks to good old Ebay.

If you love zombie movies I'd suggest this wonderful ongoing saga of survival against the odds.

It's excellent writer Robert Kirkman keeps the story moving but still spends a good amount of time developing the main characters, something often missed in the typical zombie fest film.

The artwork is fantastic, especially the first volume which was entirely drawn by Tony Moore before he cut down to just the front covers.

This is Angel Nigel..he was walking around the streets of Holborn and when he saw me with my camera he stopped to pose and then tell me about himself.

Angel Nigel is a street busker/entertainer who specialises in song, dance and strangely Hip-Hop rapping. He is currently working on a website www.angelnigel.com (although I can't find it at the moment and I doubt its existence)

I'm really looking forward to Saturday now...I've never photographed a large public gathering like this so I'm really going to be out of my comfort zone.

I don't really know what to expect from the protesters, the police or the general public. I dont want to offend, but I want to accurately document the day.

I'm rather nervous.
lramiro520 11 years ago
Pancakes ROCK!! Do you ever make chocolate chip pancakes? My college used to make them, and I don't think I've had them since, but they were fantastic.

I'd think that photographing a large public gathering such as the one you'll be attending would be fun (that is, if you support their cause). I've never done that sort of photography seriously myself, but I would think that many protesters would not object. It seems that if anything, they would appreciate additional coverage or attention, especially if it accurately documents their raw emotion. I've never attended a large scale protest, and so maybe it is much more difficult, but in any case, I hope you'll be able to have some fun with it! Good luck!

Tonight we went out for drinks with some friends, I took this on the way home it was raining and Ash is coming down with something.

I dont think she really wanted to stop in the rain to take this.

This is my Nikon F75....This is my baby.

I'll be taking her to London tomorrow for the anti-war march. I'm really excited about it now! I've got about 5 rolls of colour film, 2 of black and white.

I expect to use them all. :D

The march was amazing I managed to get to the front, In a strange no-mans land between the police and the protesters I'll be putting 2 rolls in on Monday so should have them up Tuesday!
