Follow the Light...

Our age is one of isolation. Perhaps this is a natural reaction to being stuffed in cities, our attentions constantly diverted by the media-rich, technological cocoon in which we live. It is easy to forget – your neighbor, the man behind the ticket counter, the woman at work, the last airport you were in. How can we possibly remember what is not in front of us every day?

Today we do not allow ourselves to forget. Today we do not allow time to triumph. We record. We use the tools of this modern age capture Light, to record one instant of a million, billion possibilities, there to be found, there to be recorded, there to be remembered. This is a great gift. We are the inheritors of a great tradition. Now, finally, here, we can capture the Truth...exciting, isn't it...? :)

Light = Truth

these are all so striking.
I especially like the 14th.
Looks so film noir.
It was a dark night, in a city that keeps its secrets...
and I dig how the spotlight almost seems to be directed at the Resin.

Good to see your photos here again. I took a swoop through the photostream late yesterday to preview. 13MAR - looking a the ceiling during a jetlag night - who has not been there? All good stuff...coffee cream walls near Canal+...nice. See you in a bit.

Called some of the boys and went on a walk-about this morning/afternoon. Mother Nature, however, decided to water the garden today. We had a good time anyway :)

This shot was taken just in front of the Church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

Paging Dr. Eckleburg...

Paging Dr. Eckleburg...Dr. T. J, Eckleburg...

So who is an F. Scott Fitzgerald fan...? There is a motif in "The Great Gatsby" of a faded advertisement for an optician -- the only thing really still visible on the sign are the eyes of the doctor, floating above the route between Manhattan and West Egg, watching all that transpires during the novel...it is a fantastic allegory for God or for the reader watching these lives spiral down to tragedy...

Hello there.
My favourites of these last photos are: March 8th, the beautiful sky of March 20th and, of course, the green window of your neighbours. It's so good to come here and see such beauty.... The roses in sepia are also great.

Thank you, Ted -- that is very much appreciated!

We shall see! Apartment living is a bit like being in a zoo anyway...who knows what creatures are going to turn up!

Hmmm...I don't know what caused the glow -- it is a really odd shade of green too, lime or...hmmm...I don't know... :)

Loca!! I like the one from the 8th as well :) Thank you for the favs and the comments!

Hey, I'm back on other people's diaries again!
So I went back from the start of your stream and enjoyed it :-))
I do like the green room too!
Had loads of things to say for each photo but well...the last hotel one is a good B&W, I like the open windows, it feels like I'm invited to have a look inside...I guess I'm just a curious person :D
Oh, and about your pics, many are taken in St germain des prés or nearby (pont des arts)...that's where I work ! :-)

Leonardo

The Chateau in Amboise, supposedly where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried. It was a beautiful day spent with good friends taking lots of photos :)

This image was captured with a Medium Format film camera -- a Mamiya 7II Rangefinder -- on Fujifilm Provia 400 color transparency film. The negatives/positives from this camera are spectacular -- 6cm x 7cm!! (compared to 2.4cm x 3.6cm with 35mm film :) And the optics are very, very sharp. Here is a set with some more images from this camera! More to come!

Standing, Waiting, For Something to Happen...

The first line of the song "Standing, Waiting" for the album "Mercy Me wWith Curses" by Irishman by way of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Karl Mullen and his band. GREAT album -- tight band, great songs, good production. They *rocked* live. Unfortunately, Karl moved to Philadelphia & I think the band isn't together anymore.
