ooooops ! I was mistaken by your "username". Paris is not bad also, although a bit "tense" for me.

Yellow is the colour of the King who is almost a God in Thailand. For his birthday or for the anniversary of his accession to the trone, 80% of the Thai people wear yellow.

I will try my best to post good pictures of the places I will visit. It is not like being there but I hiope it will give you something.

Thank you. Not really tourism and indeed a busy business trip, but still some changes in live for a few days. What about your trip to France ?

Yeh, aren't politics fu**ed up. I mean here we are all on Flickr, from all over the world - we are having no problem what so ever to chat to each other - we all have similar worries (job, spouse, money, life), and similar things make us happy. We all love the pretty things in the world, we all celebrate the unusual. We are all humans, with care and respect for each other.
So who are those people that keep creating wars, that keep killing and torturing each other. Who are those horrible human beings.
I've never meet even one!!! and sometimes I doubt they exist. That the wars and suffering is something on another planet.

I agree with Samrag - I travel all throughout the arab world and to Israel as well (2 passports required for that - can't have certain stamps in certain countries etc...). I have only met 1 - repeat 1 person in all these years who was seriously advocating "complete last man standing wins" war. All others are just like us - family, food, health, vacation, work...blah blah blah. Too bad ...just too bad.

CollardGreens: Oops
dda1605 11 years ago
I agree with both of you. No differences between all of us, we have the same everyday concerns, problems and joys.
It seems there are some huge flows (economical, political) that lead us and there is nothing we can really do.

I think we are doing exactly what we can do. I personally feel that I am an ambassador every where I go. I make it a point to discuss the current world maladies with my local contacts - I am sure you do the same. This is what we can do...think globally but act locally. Make a difference each time you can...just my 2 centiemes.

Good return!! Beautiful photographs (fruit juices and sushi on your stream!!)
The men are insane. Last week in Italy a police officer died to maintain the order during a match of football. A MATCH OF FOOTBALL!!!
He leaves a woman and two children, a 14 year old girl and a son of 8.
Ignorance, stupidity?!?

Sandrapi
CollardGreens PRO 11 years ago
I propose that we look at this (football / silent majority) in a slightly different angle...we can in this forum and safetly too !

Imagine a great huge camion carrying food to market - easy non? It has gasole, oil and other chemicals to maket the trip go smooth and on time. If we introduce another incompatible substance (sugar - in small amounts too) into the reservoir - the gasole becomes poison to the motor and it stops, products perish and in general the people who were eating the product - do not.

I propose to you that it is this small amount of incompatible chemical introduced into our gasole that spoils. A small number of very vocal / active huligans have spoiled Italian football. So we will have to put upfences, install security cameras, make arrests etc.

I also propose that each of us can make a small contribution to spoil the motor of the huligans in our lives...we can make a difference every day - in the way we do business, treat other motorists on the road, the bus etc etc. Maybe it would not prevent the problem with football but maybe it can help with small problems in our collective lives.

Take care of the small problems and the big ones will take care of themselves...only my 0.02 again...Thanks

Didier, so nice to see more photos from you, all in a bunch. But I was admonished by the Guru for doing the same thing you did... Each photo has to be posted separately, with its own date. (You don't have to delete anyone's comments, though, just take the second and third images and post each of them in a new comment box, with a new date.)
--What a beautiful painting from Myanmar! Such glorious warm tones...
--Those magnets are marvelous! You've got a wonderful collection and they really made for a nice shot. I put mine anywhere that has a suitable metal surface, including a large metal file cabinet next to my desk at home. They create a lovely, personalized gallery, don't they?
--I LOVE the sculpture of the African woman... I checked your photostream to see if there were any details on the artist or where you "captured" this, but there weren't any. I'd love to know!
Enjoy the sun and good weather. We're expecting back-to-back snowstorms here. Brrr!

I have to confess that I was very busy when I came back from Bangkok. I only was able to take some pictures from home :
09/02 : A painting we bought in Yangoon (Myanmar)
10/02 : Our Magnets Collection on the fridge. Magnet we bought in countries we visited.
11/02 : One of the pieces I prefer. An african statue of a an African Beauty

On my way to Europe (don't be jealous, I am really tired of it).
See you all.

@charmante : Thank you for the tip. No one wants the Guru on his back.
Regarding the African Beauty, I don't have any details. I bought it 12 years ago in an african gallery in Paris. I think she is the symbol of fecondity (I am not sure the world is right in english). The stone is from Africa, not sure it is marble.
Happy you like it and thank you for the comment in the stream.

Qui va me revoir, mademoiselle Bruxelles
Mais je ne serai plus tel que tu m'as connu
Je serai abattu, courbattu, combattu
Mais je serai venu

Bruxelles, attends-moi, j'arrive
Bientôt je prends la dérive
Paris, je te laisse mon lit...

Tajines

Tajine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A tajine (tah-zheen) is a Moroccan dish as well as a special pot for preparing this dish. The traditional tajine pot is formed entirely of a heavy clay which is sometimes painted or glazed. It consists of two parts; a bottom which is flat and circular with low sides, and a large cone or dome shaped cover that rests inside of the bottom during cooking. The cover is so designed to promote the return of all condensate to the bottom. With the cover removed, the bottom is open and shallow for easy serving at the table.

Tajines dishes are slow cooked at low temperatures, resulting in tender, falling-off-the-bone meat with aromatic vegetables and sauce. The cover has a knob-like formation at its top to facilitate removing it. While simmering, the cover can be lifted off without the aid of a mitten, enabling the cook to inspect the main ingredients, add vegetables, move things around, or add additional braising liquid, if needed.

La mosquee Hasssan II

Hassan II Mosque, built for the 60th birthday of former Moroccan king Hassan II, is the largest religious monument in the world after Mecca. It has space for 25,000 worshippers inside and another 80,000 outside. The 210-meter minaret is the tallest in the world and is visible day and night for miles around.
Although Hassan II Mosque was designed by a French architect, it is Moroccan through and through. All of the granite, plaster, marble, wood, and other materials used in its construction were taken from around Morocco. 6,000 traditional Moroccan artisans worked for five years to turn these raw materials into abundant and incredibly beautiful mosaics, stone and marble floors and columns, sculpted plaster moldings, and carved and painted wood ceilings.

One of the huge difference between Europe and Asia is the "night life". The night market in Bangkok for instance, a very big market with thousands of shops, restaurants. So full of life from 20:00 to 01:00 every night, seven days a week.
