Ah, the Turkish are very aggressive backgammon players! Your board looks like it could make a lot of noise from moving the pieces around if the game is played with a lot of passion. Is it wood or ceramic? My Turkish colleague would probably love to challenge you to a game!

I completely agree with you about traveling for work -- taxi, airport, hotel, office, airport, taxi, repeat. Places start to look the same...it's not as bad in Europe, but in the US, EVERYTHING looks the same -- same stores, same restaurants, same cars, same strip-malls...

Anyway, 30/01 photo is excellent!

Very easy!

@artinart - You are right, It is a time (at night) killer. Just now I am in my room, enjoying flickr and the diary 2007 community.
@Iramiro : Great description of the game, readng your description, it is like being there right now in an Istanbul cafe and ear the noise of the dices and the coins on the board.
You are right the Turks are very agressive without any defence strategy but with huge attack strategy. This board is in wood but the coins are in stones
@Sandrapi - it is fun at the begining, and then less and less till it becomes boring. Don't forget that when you reach a new place, you are most of the time alone or at least not with the people you love and you would like to have with you to visit and enjoy.
@Sunshine : next time I am in Rome, give me 2 hours and you will become the new Italian SheshBesh Champion.
@Frere Jacques - It seems "you have been already in the same movie". I agree regarding the difference between the states and Europe or Asia. It is easier and more interesting to travel in The old continent or in Asia.
