The shower curtain is a good idea for the day when you cannot which photograph take

I really like the shot of the chairs in the coffee shop as well as the shower curtain. I love that colour green, though I'd say blue is my fave colour. I love the subtle variant of colour, along with the vertical creases in the shower curtain shot. Very nice.
'stee 11 years ago
what a great shade of green. i feel calmer just looking at it. does it mesmerise you while you shower?

Wow...groovy shade of green! My brother painted his entire bedroom that exact same color, and he would LOVE that shower curtain!

yeah the green definitely calms me. i asked my gf about it and she says it energizes her. out of curiosity, i did some research on it and if you belive in color psychology (i do) it should have both of those effects. I found this too:
"Researchers have also found that green can improve reading ability. Some students may find that laying a transparent sheet of green paper over reading material increases reading speed and comprehension."
imairo: so are we going to see pics of the bedroom soon?

thanks android, mbauhs on your chair comments.

Having a camera with you at all times forces you to look at the world differently. I've no idea how many times I have passed by this store, but today I noticed it. It's near 36th and 8th.

msspider66 11 years ago
cool hats. O like the red one.

[Ms Spider66]
hervcha 11 years ago
Well considering. To walk with the camera in the pocket, always ready for photografer, develops the sense of observation. (the 6th o 7th I don't know)

SamRag came by to you!

Just looked quickly over all your photos.
Your gf is beautiful and you take lovely photos of her.
I also like your shots from NY... because I so much want to come for a visit. The coffee shop one with three chairs and futuristic car outside...nice
But this last one is my favorite so far... and get's my star Star

what i wonder is how long the holiday decorations are going to be on that window? thanks samrag for your lovely comments. ny is an amazing city and one of my goals this year is to really discover it after all these years of living here, so you'll be seeing more pics. also thank you for your comments about my gf.
'stee, the store also sells stylish canes farm1.static.flickr.com/169/367083537_fe271c07ae_b.jpg to go along with the stylish fedoras -- all your pimpin' needs I suppose. i didn't go in the store but I think they sold shoes as well. i think i'm partial to that blue hat .

We went to see a play tonight and we were crossing Times Square when I took this one. Great thing about Times Square is that with all the lights you don't need a flash just a lens with a fast aperture.

oh, man...that is a great photo. she is in focus and on the move with the city lights and action in the background. very cool.

thanks for the replies. i agree about the car light but not familiar with photoshop. however, now that you mention it my eye gravitates there. more pics will be coming from this area since i like to shoot at night without flash.

Me too! I mean about the night shots without flash. Of course, if I had a deent off camera light source... then we'd be talking a different game.
hervcha 11 years ago
I agree too, I mean take night shots without flash, and a long exposure. Not it always possible to dim the headlights, even with photoshop

sunshinecity, you're not alone in this, I feel the same way, got to ged rid of that
humorous cats [deleted] 11 years ago
satrina/sunshine you're not alone. this project is forcing me to overcome that. my apartment is way too small to photograph an entire year, so i've decided to carry the camera with me wherever I go. it's actually great because it's like I'm seeing NY again for the first time.

January 25

This picture reflects some confusion that took place today having to do with a cancelled meeting. It also reminds me how difficult it would be to have a car in NY. In fact, all my life I've never owned a car.

humorous cats [deleted] 11 years ago
also i must break the pattern that Hervcha so cleverly picked up on.

Today was the coldest day of the year. I did go out but I didn't have my camera with me. I'm about to throw these flowers away and I thought I'd grant them immortality.

msspider66 11 years ago
wasn't it great today? I left my apartment about 845a for my short work to the LIRR. The cold made me feel alive. Of course I was bundled up. I even wore the red ear mops (my brother's childhood word for ear muffs) I picked up on the street the other night.

I love winter!

humorous cats [deleted] Posted 11 years ago. Edited by humorous cats (member) 11 years ago
herchva: maybe iris but they seem to be a little smaller. not a flower expert though. i left my camera at home today and missed great opportunity. middle of times square at least twenty police cars. probably someone important in town.

i did think about using it as a desktop but i will wait to get some that are more alive. and yes i'm still with heather we just haven't had a chance to take pics.

here is yesterday's pic. i went to my mom's and we all played dominoes. i was so intent on taking the pic that i lost every game. something about taking pics...do you live the moment or are you too busy "documenting it" to live it?

mbauhs PRO 11 years ago
Last two shots--amazing! I've battled with that statement before too: "do you live the moment or are you too busy "documenting it" to live it". I do think you can balance that though...
msspider66 11 years ago
Tonight's pic is beautiful. See snow is good! I just peaked out the window and it is coming down here too. It isn't the blizzard I washoping for but I am happy.

[Ms Spider66]
lramiro520 11 years ago
Wow, I really like your last 3 pics. The dying flowers are beautiful...eerily graceful in the way they are wilting.

I've often thought about the question you posed about "iving the moment" or being too busy with the photo to actually live. When I started taking pictures I was definitely too caught up in the actual pictures and I kicked myself for it because I missed great experiences. But now that I'm more experienced I've found that a balance can exist, as mbauhs mentioned. For me, it's all about feeling the moment. That is most important. If I live the moment (with all its emotions) first, then a pic will follow more naturally...I can take a pic quickly, and move on without missing a beat.
Samrag 11 years ago

hervcha 11 years ago
I think that this year it will not snow to Genoa. What a pity !! About the problem… I had both the camera and the movie camera, and I did not live any more indeed!! Now I hold this small pointandshot with me, and divide the moments: that one to play and that one to make the photo. And everybody know that I am a Flickr addict then is easier to make fotos.

thank you all for the kind words. love snow. today it was basically gone. almost as if it had not happened. last night i had a dream i was visiting a planetarium, so i decided to point my camera up. unfortunately i didn't get the kind of detail from the moon i wanted. i went with almost black and white but i'm still not happy with the shot. more of a zoom perhaps. anyway a pic a day so here is mine.

beautiful flowers.... they are now for ever immortalised!
humorous cats [deleted] 11 years ago
thank you jmarc...your comment brought a smile to my face.

the flowers are indeed immortalised, now i have to get new ones. i almost bought some hydrangeas -- my favorites -- today but i didn't want to walk all over with them.

hervcha -- indeed a good zoom would do the job. i want one for just that kind of shot.

thanks stee.

I was riding the subway -- the 1/9 line down and I took this picture right before the 116th stop. That's the Riverside Church rising in the distance. It's a beautiful church. Maybe in the spring I'll shoot closer to it.

Fantastic shots.

Playing catch up here. On the 31st I was walking by Union Square when I took the following picture. I then went to see a movie -- Pan's Labyrinth, which I highly recommend -- and on teh way back a group of amateur astronomers had set up their telescopes to look at the moon. It was a full moon. Gorgeous. One had a much bigger telescope and you could see Saturn. What an amazing sight.

I thought of you when I was in Nashville. I took some of my Fairway haul with me. If you happen to find a bag of roasted chesnuts there, grab one or two.
