Daily Photo Set: 2006, 2007
==========================

This is something I've been doing now for few months already, and look forward to post my daily photos here as well.

But let me tell you folks... it is VERY hard to take one photo each day... couple of times I have just managed it before midnight!
It is even harder to try to take "good" pictures or "interesting" picture or "relevant" pictures each day.

MY OWN RULES:
1. Take photo daily
2. Try to have them with some diversity
3. If something "unusual" (birthdays, trips, visits etc.) occur that day, try to have the daily photo reflect that.
4. Make no changes to the photograph other then red-eye, crop and straighten. - and even keep those to minimum.
5. The day is 00:00-23:59 (not as with some; from the time I wake up, and till I go to sleep)

Yeh,... you did have a good week didn't you. Wish you all the best with it :)

That's the spirit. I will have to take you pillaging a village one of these days =)

Reading Sunshines post with comment - takes an hour each day, just if you are going to keep up. 'hopefully' though she will now slow down a bit =)

Damn... but you were sooo close to being perfect. ;)

DAY 32: 01. February, 2007 - Thursday (332 to go) Home
01.02.2007 - Icelandic Girls
One of my photos from the the club

My Day: hhhmmm to long ago already. Wait a minute. Tristan was awake half the night so I was pretty tired at work during most of the day.
At work I got it confirmed that neither the Australian guy, Jarred, nor the USA-Boston girl, Katy which for the last couple of days have been in for quick test-run, can get work permits. So we are short of staff. And now when we have lost all our change of sunshinecity coming to work for us...hhhmmm

In the evening I slept a little and then went to pick up Tim. We needed some extra help in the club and Tim was happy to get some more work. He, as everyone in Iceland, has at least two jobs, this will be his third. We are scheduled to work as well on Saturday night.

Falling behind at school, and will have to take Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed to really work at my studies!!!
Falling behind on my homework for my day job, have to finish some lists and similar duties, this will end up being my task for the beginning of next week as well.

Job Application J032: Software salesperson

Yeh... actually have slept very well for the last couple of days. Feeling much better, doing some pet projects etc etc.

Bit like the cat me, sunshine... always land on my feet,... and if I don't land on my feet,... I'm quick to stand up again. ;)

Trying not to, but has always been a problem. Knowing my limits has never ever been my strong point!

Well... being a kid can be very nice indeed. I never realized that though while being a kid. To busy worrying about stuff =)

Well, yes and no. They are truly easy on the eye that is correct, and many of them are pretty nice to. But mostly they just remind me of that I am no longer young. They consider me to be really really really old!!! LOL (like we are the 'men' in the door, not the 'guys' in the door... sounds different in Iceland, but when they say this - it is like we are clearly old guys to them ... sniff snifff,... buhhhuhhh)

This is taken in the house where I live. I'm standing at 'my' landing, on 1st floor (2nd floor in Icelandic), looking up the stairs to my neighbours, one of them here on Flickr.

My Day: uhhhhh, can't remember. Worked during the day... just you know... the groundhog day stuff. Aaarrrggghhh
Feels like such a wasted day when I can't remember anything about it 2 days later.... hhhmmmm LOL

DAY 34: 03. February, 2007 - Saturday (330 to go) Home
03.02.2007 - I am a 2 year old teenager
Tristan loves this sofa, and he really knows how to make himself comfortable in it. So much indeed that he looks like a 2 year old teenager in it sometimes.

My Day: Not much going on. Slept well, went to work at 10, worked till 18 - mostly down in the kitchen cutting vegetables and meat.
Had a very nice chat with Heiða during the evening about all sorts of ideas that I have.... 'to be continued'?

In the evening I went to the club, where this lovely girl was. She was very irritated that few weeks earlier she had been there with her mum, 38, and all of us had shown so much interest in her. So this time around she clearly wanted more attention and was happy that her mum wasn't there to steal it all.
It was however a quiet night, even though it was one price to get in, and free drinks at the bar. Tim and I had a very good chat about some of my ideas.... 'to be continued'?

DAY 35: 04. February, 2007 - Sunday (329 to go) Home
04.02.2007
I could not pick a photo today....aarrrgh had the choice of:
Artistic shots of guys at the pool table
The swan waiting to get across the road
The beautiful swan in the city
The BATHROOM of the swans...notice how they are all lining up and washing themselves, like almost in the showers at the gym!
The picture perfect family feeding the ducks, or goose, or swans or whatever.
The red sunset
The Church in the beautiful red sunset
Too hard choice - so I just posted a fun photo from Nonnabiti during the morning hours! This is a typical Dóra!

My Day: After some sleep (woke up about 1400) I sat down at my computer for a while. Then I decided to take a walk in Reykjavik, and get some sun or at least some light - felt good ....aaahhhhhhh

Then I sat down at the city hall café and studied for a while. Noticed these lovely swans washing themselves all in a line - found it so funny. They spend ages there, and they switched places, one would come and wait for another one to be finished. LOL so cool.

In the evening I did the cooking for once, while Heiða wrestled her demons (long story and not for me to tell). I then visited my workplace quickly and came home to spend some time on Flickr and do some other computery stuff....

My Day: Woke up rather early as Heiða woke me up. Spent the day trying to sort out some things for her (and us really) - difficult things, old, carrying on your backs, family related, bad blod, money related kind of stuff...hhhmmm

In the evening I worked with another colleague of mine, Hafþór (Haffi) as Tim was sick.

08.02.2007 - Being fixed

My Day: Busy day. Woke up around noon to drive Heiða to work. Visited my parents and help mum out a bit on the computer. After that I had an appointment, still checking out some of the difficult things from Heiða's past (present/future). It was a good meet and I was happy to report back to her that things might turn out more then alright. I am also really glad that I can be there for her and that she trusts me to 'handle' this stuff.
I visited Nonnabiti after this and had a chat with my boss there. We had a laugh as usual =) Then I picked up Heiða and we had some quality time together. Her mum is in Iceland now and picked Tristan up from Kindergarten. We went to some furniture shops and then to Ruby Tuesday. Then it was back to work.
My brother, Kári Hólmar Ragnarsson, visited me late in the evening. He was waiting for the 'numbers' to come in, but he is deep in student politics and in top seat for one of the two main parties - Röskva
I am sure he will end up as prime minister one day.

Good to see the sun has made it's comeback to Iceland. Nice shot of the church - I visited Reykjavik a couple of years ago in the summer. Got loads of photos of the church - your photos of boats and machinery are good too - always like brute strength.

In medical literature we hear about Iceland often, particularly in pharmaceutical studies - seems Iceland is one of the few places on earth where genetic research is nearly pure...your history records has a running trail on who married who and who begat who from the start of island life after the Danes came. Interesting - sorry to ramble.

hhhmm... well, not sure I agree. One thing is that I am now waiting for this phonecall... There was no real set time, though it sounded like he was going to call today...hhmm, and he might call just as I'm in shower, or just while I'm on the toilet or ... aarrrgghhh
...I'm fidgeting... lol

Thanx, I don't so much mind the load, as long as I am doing everything I promised and took on. The minute that starts to slip, I become very unhappy chappy!

Yeh, the sun is back...jibbbeeeeee.
Where are your pictures from Iceland - they are not on Flickr... ADD THEM :)
Funny you should mention the genetic research company, as a guy came in yesterday from USA. He is working the company and comes every 4th month to Iceland to report back to headquarters or something. He told me deCODE were in fact doing so insanely expensive and long term research that few people working there expected results in there lifetime!!!! But if they will have a break through I am pretty sure everyone will no the name deCODE!

and HERE IS THE OTHER ONE, which I hope you'll take the time to go and take a look at.

My Day: hhhmmmm
In the morning I did the cleaning stuff with Tim, and when I woke up I called the Klubburinn.is to see how it was - and was told it was horrible. It was a great shock to me - and left me angry and irritated all evening. I know it was not badly done, in fact I think it was very very well done, however, maybe we didn't know well enough how to do the floor or something with the machine - but the speech regarding how horrible it was - not right!!!!

My Day: Sigrún María had stayed over night at my flat for the first time in a long time! Just after noon we went to the theather to see a children's play. Mum and Dad invited us. msspider66 11 years ago
The last time I was in KFC was my birthday. I was stuck at work very late, and stopped by the one in Penn Station to get something to eat before heading home.

As I started to eat I notticed a mouse playing peek-a-boo with me. I calmly got up and asked to speak to a manager. Granted I was not in the best of moods to begin with (I just turned 40, it was almost 11 pm, and getting stuck at the office forced me to cancel my birthday plans) but I tried to remain civil. I was told there was noone in charge and they gave me a hard time getting a refund for my barely touched food. The woman at the counter walked away when I was explaining what was wrong. She eventally sent someone else to speak to me but he also had an attitude. The excuse I was given was "we can't control the rodent problem".

The rude way I was treated has kept me away from going to KFC again.

Hey, SamRag. I haven't had time to do much topic surfing in a while.

I'd not known about Silvia Night (your photo from February 16). To be honest, I thought she was a drag queen when I first looked at the pic. There's an interesting article about her on Wikipedia. I'm not so sure her persona is such a good way to get attention.

LOL - you know she is unbelievable. Everyone loves to hate her - and the actress is this shy little girl....

I just like my photo as this is my first "news"-photo. I know the guy that currently represents her (well... he goes everywhere with her - and is not one of her 'bodyguards' - some sort of manager I think) - but I haven't been able to catch up with him to get further info yet ;)

For the others, check out the this info on Wikipedia, or listen to her Eurovision Song... which is actually an alright song!
Actually just listening to that one - and the original one in Icelandic, I find the Icelandic version much better.

What do you guys think (that is if you have time to check it out...LOL)
Samrag 11 years ago
Hey .... just found an 8 minute clip from this protest of hers - even managed to spot myself in it taking photos ... yyyeeehhh (though soooo briefly that no one else will spot me... he he).

I think I spotted you from the back of the head (used your picture in the thread as a clue !...don't have a clue what she is on about but...nice to see you post.

Oh my, I thought she was quite terrible on that u-tube protest video;) Why does this shy little girl of yours has to behave so.. Well. SO! I remember her from Eurovision and even though I understood it was all on purpose, I really thought it was very tasteless... And I understood why the audience booed at her. The song wasnt all that bad, and yes, the Icelandic version is better. I see you like her, or more like than hate :) so dont take my opinion badly:)
There is one actress in FIN that acts a stupid blonde on TV. She has her TV show. Kari says she is very clever and acts her role very well but I just cant stand her! So so fake! Grrrr!
Samrag 11 years ago
Don't get me wrong! I don't like her!!! That is I don't like the character - and I can't stand watching her for more then couple of minutes. That is why I have never watched her show her in Iceland.
The booing at the Eurovision I felt was more tasteless then her behavior. At least she was acting - even if tasteless and horrible - but the audience were being themselves!!!
And it highlighted how easy it is to be picked on. If you dare to be different, to step out of the norm, to be politically incorrect, to say your meaning (even if bad), you will be booed on and picked on.

However, I felt the joke was over - done with, after the Eurovision. The fact that she has carried on (even visited Magni at the Rockstar TV Show) I feel is way way over the top - and that the organizer (which I am afraid might be one of my friend) are milking this to the last drop!

i agree with osbornb, i thought she was a drag queen too ahhaha lmao!
karinga 11 years ago
Well, I guess it is quite difficult to stay calm and not pick up at smb as grotesque as she was;)
But I know what you mean about being picked up for being different. I have been closely following the Finnish Idols here on TV as this year there is (unbelievably!) a Lithuanian guy participating. He had a band in LT and was quite popular but then gay themed videos and pictures of him appeared in public and he disappeared. People didnt accept him anymore. He was gone for long, until he now reappeared in Finland and in Idols. Now, I know nothing about him, only that he is a quite good looking fellow with a great voice (even if his english accent in songs is not the best!). He doesnt speak Finnish and at first the judges didnt let him through but then Finns protested and the show gave him a second chance. Of course, he adds some pepper ;). He wasnt voted into the finals, but went as far as semi-finals and there still is a chance that judges invite him to join the winers of the finals. Will see. Finns seem to like him. Im sure, there are some to dislike, cos he is kida sleezy..:) Well, my point was that his success her in FIN was very critisized back in LT. People pick up a lot at him, and only few support. They even say that he disgraces our country. As soon as he appeared in FIN Idols, somebody sent those gay shots to the FIN media... Comments in LT forums say it was somebody from LT. Sad if true.
Here are some links from youtube:

i don't know who the heck she is, but my casual observation is that by tucking the white sleeves of her jumpsuit into her long black gloves ... she's ...well ... just begging to be mistaken for a mad scientist.

Sounded like they were saying, "Say 'No' to the Silvia Night Show" at the end of the protest video, but I must have been mistaken. You're right, the Icelandic version of the song was better. But in general all pretty tasteless. I wonder what leads her to do all this? Can't be just money.

She is saying "Say 'No' to the Silvia Night Show" - which is her own show.... hhhmmm ... something about it being an insult to the intelligence of Icelanders... Not sure... you can read about it on her webpage. Why she does it - she is just an actress being paid to work as one - most actors and actresses can't be so picky you know. But I do wonder why SOMEONE is paying her to act this out.....

DAY 50: 19. February, 2007 - Monday (314 to go) Home
19.02.2007 - "does one sink in a sink?"
he he he

My Day or even a Week: Like last week I didn't get around to post photos everyday. Lot of different things going on in my life and I need to priorities. Apologizes to all that I hardly visit anyones thread - and even if I do I leave few if any comments. However, I'll keep on posting photos - and hopefully write at least a little bit about my life.

This week I was working evening shifts. Monday and Tuesday Tristan and I spent the days at home - as he was sick.
- Heiða and I are looking into purchasing a flat, while at the same time we have few challenges in our relationship. Mostly due to how inflexible I can be, and how laid back she can be! he he
- Got also some old debt creeping up on me - which meant I had to go on my knees to the bank... hopefully those things will sort themselves out next week.
- My mum is going this Sunday to Sweden for most likely a second operation in relation to her Parkinson decease.
- Got back my Amadeus grades (took a little test couple of weeks back) - Got 9,5 ;)
- Was called in for that interview for the software company. It went really well I think - though I am still far away from getting the job. A lot of other people need to be involved, and next Tuesday I'm scheduled for an interview with a whole group of people...aarrrggghhh
- Have been preparing my birthday party all week along with Heiða. Both my brother and I have birthday on the same day 26.02 - and as I'm turning 35 I decided to have a little party on Saturday.
- Went shopping with my mum on Thursday
- There was also a dinner party on Friday evening at my parents place.

- Ohhh, and that thing... I started my own company this week along with my good friend Tim. We call it TS-Þrif, or TS-Cleaning. It is a cleaning company, and we take on places (schools, kindergartens, clubs, homes, offices etc.) to clean. We've already gotten one place - (I think) and hired couple of girls from Lithuania to clean it.

... - oh, yeh and my group here on Flickr... Flickr@Iceland, is going really well, and we have a meet next Monday - to plan photo-exhibition .

As you can see - I'm still keeping busy ;)))

21.02.2007 - ÖSKUDAGUR
Today was Öskudagur - this day all the kids (and some of the teenagers) put on costume and go out and sing for candy. Nooo it is not a Halloween - Ashday would be direct translation.

Some great pictures and comments from my last visit. I especially like the pictures of the kids (I have to admit I am a bit more reluctant to share the kids pictures but I hope to get use to it in the future).

I believe it is your birthday today -- Happy 35th (found out on your sister's stream) I know you've been busy -- Hang in there -- I understand very much the priorities of life superceding the pleasure of posting pictures and viewing the other streams. Just wanted to send you good wishes and let you know you and your little family (heida and tristan) and in my thoughts here across the globe :-)
