I think I missed at least one day. And wait a minute--next year is a leap year so that means we will have to post 366 times. We are crazy.

we have really had a winter so far this year - it just keeps snowing and snwoing and snwoing - yeehaw
slept late and woke up slow - had lunch with the thompsons and then with word of visitors soon to arrive i stuck around all afternoon - almost sucked into a wonderful supper but had to get down the valley - actually the best christmas since the GASP divorce - just took it easy enjoying everyone's company and no big deal - life is sweet

hit the phones and the keyboard running - finished up the morland swift story before 8 am and the rest of the day was just spinning wheels as i so often do - still no paycheque - should i take that as a sign?
in the pm i got a little distracted and came up with a list of 101 things i plan to do in the next 1001 days - hahaha - so silly but since im not good at getting stuff done i thought id try it - be a bit less of a drifter - hahahaha - first on the list is sleeping for 9 hrs a night for three weeks - oh boy - this should be good
more winter!

Day 244, Friday, Dec. 28
holiday in the d.dot

PICT0018.JPG

after two weeks of calling every bureaucrat in canada, we were the first to confirm the wharf story - seems the news got out earlier than the government wanted - minister mackay was in afghanistan serving supper to the troops and so unavailable to come to digby for photos - so senator comeau called today to say he had read our wharf story in the paper and to confirm what we already knew - felt kind of sorry for him honeslty - "i am calling to confirm the wharf has been sold" - senator we published that a week ago...
"and to tell you peter mackay will be coming soon to reveal more details on the funding arrangements" - uh we have those already - really reveals how these guys work - they wanted to wait and dole out details when it was good for them - not this time cheech -

wrote cover story, took cover photo, wrote editorial -busy gosh darn day -headed off late for ski hill
jb and i crashed at conors - movie, a cple beers, and a woodstove with a view of the hill - life is good

Day 245, Saturday, Dec. 29
snow

PC290017.JPG

felt like crap in the AM - im not sure if that was phlegm or a complete amoeba i coughed up - but the look of the hill and the rave reviews from all around convinced me to buy a ticket - the skiing was sweet - we bounced down the southside and the hurricane most of the day - even the beaver was all bumps baby bumps - and then it started to snow - sweet soft bales of snow - "it was puking" - called er quits mid-afternoon and hung out behind the bar for a bit sipping ginger ale and talking with connie and debbie and paul

the trip home was the biggest adventure of the day - conors house is literally a stones throw from the hill but it took me 45 minutes to get there - stuck on hill twice before deciding to drive around mountain - stuck once on back side of mountain - had "first tracks" down station road - got stuck in conors driveway - got my self out and drove around mountain again while he plowed driveway - pizza was cold when i got there and the dvd player was gone - watched the fire and sipped beer - snoozed

jb came home to report a rough day - sliced thumb open on hand sharpener, left his skis out on rack and someone stole them - and his first day as assistant manager in charge, the cash was short $200 - turns out he hadnt counted his float and therein was the problem - sadly no such easy answer with skis - i woke every hour to keep the fire burning and woke up much happier :D for being warm

this is living

Day 246, Sunday, Dec. 30
focussing on priorities

PC300112.JPG

after a big slow breaky at the double c truck stop we dove into the woods - the new owners have closed off drysdale falls but since in Nova Scotia no one owns the rivers, we hiked up the frozen river - what a gorgeous day for snowshoeing - the boy is always resistant to these hikes but ends up appreciating them - no swim this year - hahaha - after dropping him off i hiked solo into white brook falls in earltown - an hr each way - lonely cold snowy woods - great to be out there and in charge and prepared and strong and slipping quielty through the woods - got a soaker or two climbing into the "waterfall room" and got soaked with sweat climbing up the ravines - could have stayed a few hours but setting sun pushed me on - i was nervous time-wise going in but it felt great to be finishing the last few straightforward kilometres in the dark - i love the look of snow shoe tracks

rob and shels - robert is almost done the huge holiday crossword - after the boys went to bed we three played scrabble til one thirty - life is so damn good

end of MDPD 2007

PC310219.JPG

hard to believe this is it - and tomorrow i start another -
that by the way is my best friend rob just about finished the globe and mail holiday crossword - i helped some "D

did nawthing today - waited around for more scrabble
den came over - we all exchanged presents and then had a pizza meal and champagne and beer and pie and chips and pretzels and cookies and chocolate - you get the idea
scrabble til almost midnight - we were all scrabbled out by the end - i just about played b.e.v.e.r.a.g.e. for 106 points - but robert took my space - man i was fit to be tied - (i called him tuesday to say i forgave but really i didnt)
counted down the new year and then to bed - nice "D

Unbelievable - a whole year of photos - ok - i missed a few after I fell off the front porch of Chateau Allaway and i cheated a little - I also failed to get them all sorted up into a set :(
but i do have a collection of photos which pretty much represent a year in the life of me - i just took a quick scroll through - wow - that is cool "D
I think ill do it again - with no breaks and no cheats
and maybe outdoors all year...
cya in 8!
