Thanks for the quick link to your photo set - after being away for a long time (travelling, and in hospital for a while), it was great to see them all together, and I have to say that you have marvellous variety and consistent quality in your photos. I then went back and read through all the discussion I had missed. Some pretty deep stuff, and some amusing stuff. Thanks for including the pics of your legs and shoes - nice. I guess the girls admire the shoes/boots, and the guys like me admire your shapely legs and neat ankles. I'll try and keep up regularly now.

Yeah, I drive 20 miles just to get my son to school. Not that we live in the Way Outs, but it's a school I prefer for him. There's another California thing for ya, which makes for a wicked catch-22: I could give up the drive and walk my son to school (where I went to school), or be another car on the road, driving 30-40 minutes for what should only take 12-15 minutes, but get my son to a much better school in a better learning environment.

Great pic of the magnolia (is it?).

Regarding your fuel consumption, your cost is about the same as in Europe: an average car would get three times your mileage here, and it's about three times the price...

Now, spending time commuting is one thing that I find unacceptable. I spend close to three hours per day on the road, traveling just over 30km (20 miles) to work and back. When I first started working, everybody cycled to work. There were three cars in the car park: the owner's car (his wife, who handled the accounts, came with him in the morning, in the rare days when she came in late, she'd walk to the factory: it was a one car family), a working couple that travelled a few extra miles in order to pick-up a few more colleagues on the way, and a supervisor's car. Everybody else walked, or used bike or motorbikes. In those days, people chose their residence to make their work commute easy. Nowadays, one would have to move too often for that.... There's a lot of things that went badly wrong with the way we live, and not enough people raise their heads and look to see what's happening.

I was reluctant on the crocs... But was convinced by my friend Pat during our trip to Thailand and sandals were digging into my feet. I bought a pair made in Thailand for $6. Best $6 I've spent in a long time! They're comfy, you gotta give 'em that.

she arises.... desk full of work, mind full of task lists, tummy fully of soup (some kinda campbells grilled chicken and sausage gumbo -- that is surprisingly decent -- and only 2.5 fat grams) ....

Hi U Guys!!!! Missed U!

quick catchup --

magpie -- $6 for the crocs! way to go! nothing worse than traveling in shoes that hurt!

collard -- thank you for tucking me in :-)

sunshine -- I'll find out what the flower is called

Para -- An average car here gets at least two times what I get (26 for them).... that's not too bad. That's an awful lot of time that you spend on the road for such a few miles, must be terrible traffic. I would tend to agree with you -- things have gotten way out of control with what we have grown accustomed to as a "normal" and acceptable way of life now. It is really time to do some soul searching and self assessment about the quality of life one has and looking to see what's most important to oneself.

Hey Rob! It's good to see you back -- i spent some time over on your photostream and I'm happy to know you're recovering well :-)

As I mentioned Jade's birthday was March 3 and she had a sleepover. The girls were at my house 21 hours! They had a blast -- watching movies, eating, singing karaoke, playing charades, board games and just giggling and laughing in general. My job was to feed and stay out of the way. After I went to sleep on Saturday Nite, apparently there was an accident with popcorn. (I'm glad that's all that happened) My house still smells like burnt popcorn 5 days later. They opened gifts on Sunday -- this is one of her friends -- they've been friends since they were 2. Here's her (Mom)
and I've known her for 35 years.... WOW

After my weekend with the "girls", I got to spend more time with little girls at the girlscout meeting on Monday afternoon..... they were working on a badge for looking your best. We met in a joint meeting with the fourth grade..... not so much fun.... a much bigger group and their leaders have a different tone than we do. one of their exercises was to put together a poster of examples of looking your best. One of THEIR mothers brought a bunch of magazines that didn't seem appropriate -- our girls are all under 13 and makeup and stuff is still not part of their routine. Anyway, their collages were interesting. This table overlooked the whole looking your best theme and cut out their favorite teen stars and made a collage of them..... oh well, at least they got their badge from it.

March 6 is my birthday and it was a pretty uneventful day -- I went to a couple MD appointments and spent a lot of the day in traffic coming back and forth from the westside (beverly hills this time). Had dinner at houstons with my aunt and daughter and had my favorite thing -- the evil thai jungle noodle salad. filet, mango, avacodo, mint, bail, coconut,, noodles, tomato in a spicy dressing yum... i love it.

i got flowers from my best friend and another arrangement from jade's grandmother. i got gorgeous roses at work. we also have 3 arrangements at home from jade's birthday party, plus she got flowers too.... it seriously looks like a flower shop at home LOL

Oh, I needed that laugh. This has been such a stressful week. We're kinda punchy around here right now. And to top it off, I just discovered that "ongoingly" is not a word.... hmmm, who knew.... i use it all the time. It's all good -- it's almost 5:00 on Friday and I'm actually going to leave somewhat on time.... and take work home....and be back on Sunday...after i go sell girl scout cookies in front of a supermarket...after a night of heavy drinking at the saddle ranch...oh, you don't need a crystal ball for this one...

For that and more incorrect word usage, please visit: wsu.edu/~brians/errors/errors.html

I think I might lobby for it's acceptance into the dictionary. "bling" made it, why not "ongoingly" -- isn't language ever evolving (which could also be stated "language evolves ongoingly"....) ok, it's time to go home....

I saw a rather cosmopolitan woman today, sitting in her suv, parked in the Kung Food parking lot, and I thought for a moment, "Is that Bella Gaia?" I stared long enough to realize that, no, her hair was too long, and what would you be doing down here on a school day, anyway?

Once again, I've been away from The Diary for a few days--why does it feel like ages when it's only been 2 or 3 days?

Speaking of "non-words", here is one that needs to be introduced to world leaders:
"Thinkchronize".

Irregardless of whether it is a word or not (it depends on what one's definition of "is" is, but I could really care less, but only slightly), it is something that needs to be practiced ongoingly, especially by those who are politically orientated.
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago
still thinking about ongoingly..... and thank all of you who have championed my little causes to include it in accepted English language!

I am about sick of this stupid sink. for the last week or so it's been slow draining... i've poured a variety of products beginning with a nice organic citris product that touts its ability to clear out residue gently to some really toxic stuff this morning that has eaten off the chrome from my little circle thingy..... The sink is as old as my house (1922) and has separate spigots for hot and cold water -- which is entertaining trying to get warm water with, it's a scientific dance between the faucets to reach a medium between scalding and icy. I don't really mind the ancient nature of it, just please let it work properly -- well i guess that's pipes, not the sink.
