Hi Teresa!

I'll add another completely unrelated phrase here...

If all you have is a hammer then everything looks like a nail !!

While painting and cultivating usable personal insight - I often wonder..."Did I really think that or am I high from the paint fumes?"

Ok OK - the voices need to be quiet now...FAB Feb 18th !!

CollardGreens: Oops!
ParaScubaSailor 11 years ago
I have to disagree with Marc. It is essential to have several hammers to choose from. You can't use the same hammer to hammer in a pole in the garden, knock on a masonry chisel, wood chisel, fix up a little bent fender, or hammer a nail in...

Bella, good capture of that cold front moving in, the colours are amazing.

Glad to know about your epiphany. That one came to me a few years ago. You're right, this ain't rehearsal, so better make sure this is the way you want it.

took a couple shots of this subject and decided to use this one....

small steps

thanks for the corrections Marc -- I fixed the paining as well as one you didn't point out -- due vs. do.... anyway, all fixed :-)

I was looking for a mallet and I was amazed that there were so many seemingly similar hammers... who knew! Oh and just for the record, Para, I have more than one a little one and a big heavy one and then i have a big ole honking one in the garage... oh wait, that's a pic axe..; never mind. anyway, i bought my mallet it was only 5 bucks. there were some 20 dollar ones.... why would you pay four times more for a rubber thunky thing....

Collard -- if i had a hammer I'd hammer in the morning... hell, I'd hammer in the evening all OVER this LAND! YEAH.... I'd Hammer out danger, I'd hammer out warning, I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sister. Where? I'll tell you where -- all over this land....... phew, had to get that out......

How U been, Buns? Missed u!

Glory, I'll see what I can do about gettin you one of those lights ;-)

Glad you all liked the clouds --- I called it "cloud canyon" they were like sheer cliffs with striation!

There were a lot of metaphors that occurred during my painting/cleaning out experience.... I'll share a quick obvious one.... I have saved this outfit since.... gulp.... 1986.... I LOVEd THIS OUTFIT -- it rocked in clubs from coast to coast.... I'll find some picture of it and post it .... black of course.... anyway, it was a gift, VERY expensive and I just couldn't seem to get rid of it. bottom line -- I threw it in the trash... not goodwill, the trash! Enough! I think the last time I wore it was in 93..... 13 years in the closet.... time to go! and guess what -- I'm not going to miss it :-)
satrina* 11 years ago
Wow! I've been thinking on throwing away some clothes I haven't wore in a couple of years but haven't really gathered the nerves to do it, you're inspiring me...

Catching up and I really have to tell you, I envy your legs and your shoes too! -more the legs than the shoes.

And finally, those clouds look great, I agree they look like painted on a canvas.

Oh, and as I said, you had me at "hello", then you go showin' off them 'get-away-sticks' of yours, and now I learn that you're a King and Rice fan?! You're killin' me, T! I might have to agree with Ali, The Stand (unabridged) might be my fave, but I love the Dark Tower Series. And that scene Glory described from Bag of Bones? Yeah, I remember that...HAWT! The Green Mile was good, too--especially when I read it as chapter books that were released monthly. I'd gulp one down then have to wait the rest of the month for the next one to be sold!

Sunny Southern California -- this is my commute to work -- no traffic, clear and only 1 mile down the road -- this is actually the route from the school drop off to school. home to school is only about 5 miles and it's easy too.... they always talk about LA traffic and smog so I wanted to show you it isn't always true. nothing but green lights and open road -- i live at the foot of the mountains (on the alluvial plain) in the background.

Nice post, T.
It's good to be able to "mythbust" the negative stuff; however, this last storm did help clear the air, wouldn't you say?

And I'd venture that there's not traffic right there because a) you're not on the 5 / 405 / 605 / 2 / 91 /etc... and b) because it's Saturday!

SOOOOOO jealous of your commute. Mine's 40 miles each way. :(

Where are you in SoCal? I'll be in Oceanside at the end of March.

Lee
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago
Emil -- i'll have to go with answer A) on that one because that was taken yesterday morning -- Friday and yes, admittedly the rain helped clear the air, but usually there's cloud cover that early. That was taken at about 8:00 am. Now come summer, you won't even know those mountains are there.... I'll have to do a comparison shot later in the year to show the difference.....

Mad Sun -- they just finished "grooming" the trees recently. Besides the fact that we have really fierce winds that blow the fronds down, the city comes through and takes the dead palm leaves off the trees leaving them all new and fresh like this.

One thing I like about Orange Grove along here is that it's all residential, but they don't allow parking along this street for most hours of the day and people just generally don't park here, so it's always really clear and free of signage (except real estate signs)... which seems to be a rare sight these days in metro cities -- especially on a street this busy.

well my bed was finally delivered yesterday -- hallelujah, I'm not sleeping on the den sofa bed anymore....11 days was enough. (i need a massage -- my neck suffered those nights). I took pix yesterday of my room, but to tell you the truth, they feel too intimate -- almost like I'm sharing too much (isn't that wierd) so I settled on this one -- i like the way the light comes into the window. I have a ton of pillows (ok, 8 to be exact) that I sleep with on my bed -- i'm gonna have to get used to this bed -- it's so high. My feet don't touch the floor when i sit on the side!

The only person I try to compromise with is my daughter, since she's a "tween" she's mortified by nearly everything in the world to do with me, but I do my best to not make it worse -- I don't show cleavage at school and I don't wear my crocs..... and i don't dance... or sing.... , or play my music too loud in car line... or try to use slang.... or anything else that I would do at home that sends her into an apoplectic state!

Spare time has been scarce.... I have been doing these home projects, as you know, -- painted my bathroom this past weekend and changed some of the decor in there. This coming weekend is my daughter's birthday and she's having a sleepover. I've been planning for that too. So that's why I seem to be on here less.... Yesterday, I discovered that I hadn't taken the memory card out of my laptop and so I couldn't take pix -- not that i had any burning desire to go capture anything. Once I got home, by the time I settled down, all I was inspired to do was watch a little tv. Watched a pbs great performances show that I had tivo'd. Sting performing songs from his new Labyrinth album. I love sting. used to have a sweetheart who was/is totally into him -- he let me know i just liked Sting... he LOVED Sting..... anyway, he's a great musician and to be relevant at 60 in this business is pretty awesome in the era of 1/2 hit wonders.....

Regarding Bun's comments about your daughter... I had a friend who was complaining about _her_ daughter to another friend, who replied that she should be glad she had a daughter and not a son, as men are the only ones that can go from puberty to senility, with nothing in-between, when they turn sixty...

Me? I'm looking forward to puberty ;-)

Regarding Sting, I can't say I love him, but I like quite a few of his songs, and his work has lasting value (as opposed to instant-just-add-water junk that floods the airwaves). My favorite is his album "Soul cages".

Gas is back up over $3.00 gal (premium). What's causing the blip this week. That little light is such an alarming thing to me-- I rarely let my gas get that low and then, when it pops on, I'm sure i'm going to run out in the next mile or so even though the display on my dashboard tells me I'm ok for another 15 miles or so.

Yeah, I almost forgot how obscenely high petrol is in Europe, Sunshine & Dda1605. Satrina: av meg

I don't envy those who have to drive daily. I gave it up about 10 years ago and have no regrets. I live on Long Island where a car is needed, I do manage quite well. Friends and family with cars are there if I absolutely need them. It would be impossible to be carless if I had children or had to work in a location that I couldn't get to on public transportation.

[Ms Spider66]
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago
MsSpider -- I've got a child and I live in So. California where public transportation is really bad, so it's almost impossible to not have a car here. Fortunately, I don't have a long commute to work -- I think that really cuts into the quality of people's lives. It's not unusual for people here to commute 60-90 minutes each way to and from work.

Satrina -- I haven't heard anything, but that doesn't mean much, I don't watch the news. It's pretty pathetic here when the headline is about Anna Nicole's funeral.....
