Glad to have provided laughs for you all yesterday :-) -- I try to do my part to entertain here on the my daily photo diary. Thank everybody for reading the story --

Today's rejected photo I didn't even post in my rejects section -- it was a dead squished rat that i saw in the street -- actually, it came out really clear and vivid, but maybe too vivid and so rather than become the marilyn manson, ozzie osbourne of the group i'll stick with this shot....no story today... an emotionally draining day at work --

I grabbed my lunch at Whole Foods -- I love their produce section -- so much color and good stuff. i had spinach salad and some dates...

i don't know if i'm allowed to do this..... this IS afterall a photoblog, but since valentines day is coming up and since I still NEED a valentine this holiday -- nothing much has changed for me since last year.... I am posting my last valentines blog -- of course, i'll post my photo later today....

Valentine's Day. No plans. damn.

i bought myself flowers the night before -- by the way, they are not doing too well... mental note, who knew calalillies were so frail....

so there they were waiting for me all bright and cheery on the morning of 2/14. I decided the love I have for myself is plenty good enough to celebrate and just because some xy chromosome being didn't make plans with me on this commercialized mid February day, well, tough shit i wasn't going to cry in my coffee (yeah, i can't stand milk, but if i must i'll hit up some soymilk -- i prefer 8th continent -- but i digress -- be prepared for lots of that... it's like I have mental ADD -- a multitasker that can do 5 different things at once and the shiny mobile in the corner catches my eye and completely distracts me....-- ok, back to the topic) so i prepared my usual morning pot of double strong coffee (a miracle that my teeth are still pearly white) and prepared to look hot for..... ME! Yippee. I wore sexy lacy underwear, a sexy red dress that reminds me of the white one marilyn monroe wore over the street grate that flew up.... some to the moon high heels a shrug and a white cami so that i didn't go to work looking like a ho' and finished my signature face and hair look that is fresh not too made up and has that "i can't be sure but she looks fresh out of bed...with someone" you know -- glowing, rosy, carelessly coiffed with done lips.

so, i'm feelin' good, thinkin' i'm lookin pretty good and out the door by 7:30 with my munchkin. after the dropoff in the carpool line -- oh hell yeah, i do it all....i'm down the street to go have yet another cup of coffee with my Nana -- my 85 year old diva aunt -- another story, another time -- she's not a few sentences of diversion -- we could go chapters. head upstairs to greet her with my coffee in fine china in one hand and a bouquet of lillies and tulips for her in the other and she utters a comment that spins me to the edge the abyss of the non-date valentines day. "oh look at you -- do you have a dinner date tonite?" Uh, no. I mumble and then turn back around to get something downstairs as i feel tears welling in my lined, mascara'd (wonder if this shit is waterproof) eyes. Dammnit, she's hit a nerve. ok, i'm fine -- go back up there.... and she goes in for another shot (completely oblivious to it all, of course) "Special Lunch date plans?" Uh no, I just dressed up for myself -- I'm my own valentine. Sure it sounds all "yay, I'm a modern day kinda gal --i don't need no stinkin' man to define me" except i'm still not over the attorneyrapperdude that's "just not that into me" -- damn, he's so fucking intriguing.... I head back downstairs and this time i look into the mirrored wall in the kitchen and i'll be damned if some little salty puddle of water doesn't find it's way across the levy of lashes meant to retain that evidence that all is not as it seems. gather it all back together in a flash and back up -- hmmmm, i wonder if this up and down is doing anything to help lift my recently dropped ass.... oh never mind don't worry your pretty little head over that -- there's always the brazillian butt lift....

Hey, let's go out tonite, just us girls -- phew, the perfect solutionn.

later that day, theonewhoprofessesundyinglovebutilivewithsomeoneelse (that too is a whole different topic) brought me a diamond open heart pendant. i was really grateful and happy, except... he was pissed that he had to wait 10 minutes in the lobby. i guess that would piss you off if you ran over all the way from the westside and had to run back over there to work some more.

then theonewhoismarriedpowerfulandlivesinnewyork called to send his love wishes... yeah, ok, whatever... buhbye - chat soon.

at the end of the day, i invited my pal from work to join Nana the munchkin and me for dinner.

When we arrived at her house, Nana was resplendent in red. She really looked fabulous and had had a couple double absolute on the rocks, so she was feelin' pretty good. She had heart boxes of See's candy for all of us -- leave it to Nana, she's always prepared even for the last minute additional dinner companion. "yes, i think you should take your cane, let's go."

At the restaurant, our table wasn't ready so we head to the bar where the stool warmers take a look at my lovely aged aunt and immediately volunteer a seat for her. We gather around her as she orders up a Cazadores non blended margarita for herself and my pal -- I'm not drinking.

Dinner was fine -- however, bless her heart I think maybe that was a little much alcohol for her -- she was nodding a bit at the table and I was sure to have a firm grip on her as I guided her to the valet stand to go home.

So off we went and at the end of the day I guess it wasn't so bad afterall. I spent the day with people I love, got candy, jewelry and had a warm body next to me at the end of the night -- a kinda crusty 10 year old -- but she's mine and I love her with every cell of my being -- Happy Valentine's day.

Ok -- I'm no longer MIA -- first time I missed a day -- I took photos, but I didn't post..... so here's what happened yesterday.....

in the morning i went to help my friend out. He's got two beautiful gigantic pitbulls. Achilles and Venus. Venus is at the vet. My friend is heartbroken. She was pregnant and lost the puppies... This is the second time. the last time it happened she brought them to him when they were dead and he tells me he swears she was crying. This time, he comes home and there's blood all over his back yard. He takes her to the vet, she not only lost the puppies, but she had to have a hysterectomy. These are his kids, he's devistated. Well, I go over there on Sunday, and of course, I don't go anywhere without my camera, It's pretty much attached to my hip at all times. So of course, I think it would be great to get a shot of the dog. I take a couple from higher up and then I get the bright idea that it would be terrific to get down eye level with him -- mind you this dog's head is bigger than mine and he might, in fact, outweigh me.........maybe.....
so i'm down on the floor with Achilles and all of a sudden he gets this look in his eye and he raises up and starts to come at me.... I jumped up so fast, it wasn't like a i'm going to tear your head off look, it was like, look..... dad's brought me home a new bitch! you haven't seen anything till you see a pit bull look at you like he wants to mount you... this is not some yipping poodle humping your leg.... this dog could do some damage.... here is another photo for scale. Anyway, I love 'Chilles and we're wishing Venus a speedy recovery!

Yikes! If some dog like that tried to mount me, I might pee myself! The news of Venus really made me sad. I hope she comes through well, the poor girl.

YOU MISSED PRINCE?!?! As the Artist Formerly Known As the Artist Formerly Known as Prince once sang, "Color me taken aback!" (from You Got the Look, with Sheena Easton, from the Sign o' the Times album). It was a rather interesting choice, I thought, to have him as the halftime show--I mean, wouldn't it make more sense if the game were being played in Minnesota? Whatever the case may be, he kicked ass. I'm a big Prince fan from back in jr. high--I remember my eyes tearing up when he played Purple Rain at the Grammy's way back in the day...

Today's photo was a complete surprise to me. Yesterday, I went to a Superbowl party.... I was late, I didn't watch the game, I didn't even see the commercials until today on YouTube. Didn't even see my Prince's Commercial, never mind his performance
i'm outside with these nuts drinking tequila shots -- them, not me.... so at the beginning of the fourth quarter i find out the score 27 to 19 or something like that..... i remember i had a 7 and a 9 on the pool form, but i don't remember for which team. The guy near me comments that there's plenty of time left and it probably won't remain that score. I never did check the score again... But when I checked my phonemail this morning at the office -- -GUESS WHAT --- I won the final score on the pool $900 YAY me..... (it figures the winner would be some oblivious, non-football watching semi-fan who didn't really know who was playing until I bought the square)

YAY --- good day!

Wow! That's a nice take on the pool! I bought six squares in our pool and not one of them was even close...but like I said, it was the party (and the company) that was important. As it turned out, the hostess of the party took the pot for the third quarter and the final score. Which is cool--she got to recoup what she put into the party.

Sunshine -- I'm definitely one for tasting all life has to offer, but the pitbull is something i'll have to leave for the shows in Tijuana.... some things are WAY better left to the imagination, or not even that! We 'merican's love our football -- the pool is easy.... The squares are passed around and they are blank, no numbers or teams, just blank squares. You pay, in this case, $25 for each square you write your name in and write whereever you please. When all the squares are filled in the leader of the pool randomly selects numbers for each of the borders and which team. That's about it :-). I had good intentions -=- I went to the bank at lunch, deposited the money.... and then unfortunately kept walking down the street and ended up doing a little shopping.... no shoes -- I'm still keeping my word on that one. But one of my favorite words are SALE -- i swear, i salivate when i hear it. The full cost of what I bought was $426 -- I paid $178.... I bought 7 items. i think that was good :-)

I wonder about Anna Nicole's new little girl and what will happen to her and her life now...

Sad...glamor life is often like that and yes you hope the best for her little girl.

I'm sure there will be conspiracy theorys that point at the attorney for her son and her deaths especially since there is also paternity dispute with the little girl. I don't think she has an easy road ahead of her -- reminds me a little bit of Onassis' granddaughter. I think the baby gets all of the old man's money -- is that right?

I always thought she was pretty in a big ole obvious Texas kind of way.

magpie -- I was not familiar with Andy Goldsmith -- looked him up though. Interesting work -- i'll probably check it out in more depth.

I like the wabi-sabi esthetic of appreciating the imperfection in things and celebrating simplicity

SamRag came by to you!

Anna Nicole Smith Dead... hmmm.. sorry to hear - she was such a character - but reminded me of Marilyn Monroe (you know this sad sad lonely woman always in the eye of the public...)

Anyway - just dropped by to check up on you - lovely photos as usual.

Black Panther Party - I remeber those years when the group was really active. Not always popular then either...but then the world (usa) was a changing place then. What lessons and insight come from the book. I was just in Algiers and thought about the group and the exiles who came to Algeria for refuge. Let us know...

Sometimes I think I should join a book club. Maybe it would motivate me to turn off this computer and start reading again.

I used to read a book a day. Now it takes me weks to finish one book.

Oh, is it good?

I am much like Allan: a voracious reader whose internet addiction has cut my reading short. But I can still finish a book in less time than he does. ;-p

Love the story -- a real, interesting diary entry -- plus the egg, all....

Yeah, love to see the dress!

I am BACK! And CAUGHT UP! Whew.
