I hope that guy doesn't try to get tricky with you--good job documenting it though, in case he tries to lump other things into his estimate.

How funny you should visit this morning CollardGreens -- you were in my thoughts and i was on your stream about the time you were writing here -- i got called into a meeting and stepped away so my comment didn't appear in your stream until later, but i began it earlier :-) I saw from someone elses stream that you were traveling in No. Africa and so I jumped over to see what you were shooting -- looking forward to seeing some of the local sights maybe today?

@ebilflindas -- let's just keep good thoughts that he'll be honest.... candidly, his car is a wreck already -- it's dented all over on every side -- we'll see what kind of estimate he provides for me....

@samrag -- actually, i did take pix of each course, but because i was being discreet and they aren't with a flash, they aren't so great because as you can imagine the lighting is pretty low in there and i was using my point and shoot and so therefore, my pix are less than impressive, but for you, my icelandic friend, i'll post them in my stream and link them in here....

She was the king....not the queen?

Sam (2007 in Iceland)

yes, the king..... the did 5 short vignettes and she played the king (different ones -- king solomon in one vs. mordo the demon, in another she was a father whose daughter believed everything, so men from all over the kingdom came telling lies in hopes that she would recognize them as lies -- wierd. huh) in two of them. there was a king in one other of the plays, but my 86 yr old aunt, Nana, who also came said it looks like the people of jade's kingdom had an uprising and brought in a new monarchy..... i guess it was funny at the time.... anyway -- she goes to an all girl school and the girls play boys all the time.

I love the composition of the photo! Well taken!

Don't get me started about ants.... the fire ants in Texas are so awful. Where I grew up (Wisconsin), ants were black, chilled out, harmless.

Here, they are red, and will bite you, and you'll have the burning itch on your toe for a week. NICE.

Took my photo early this morning while i was pondering what I'd wear to work today --- i love that my clothes are color coded in my closet -- I've kept them that way for over 25 years and when you have as many clothes as i do (i have 12 feet of hanging space) plus more drawers etc AND i bring them from storage seasonally.... you need to know where everything is.....only a woman would understand that kind of excess....

I just had a day.... nothing special -- gearing up for the weekend.... kinda toe tapping about social engagements this weekend... sunday is open with tentative plans with 2 different guys.... i need some commitment!

January 26 -- shirts and no wire hangers.....

nothing to wear
ebilflindas 12 years ago
LOL! Sorry, but ...
No... wire... hangers. What's wire hangers doing in this closet when I told you: no wire hangers EVER? I work and work 'till I'm half-dead, and I hear people saying, "She's getting old." And what do I get? A daughter... who cares as much about the beautiful dresses I give her... as she cares about me. What's wire hangers doing in this closet? Answer me. I buy you beautiful dresses, and you treat them like they were some dishrag. You do. Three hundred dollar dress on a wire hanger. We'll see how many you've got if they're hidden somewhere. We'll see... we'll see. Get out of that bed. All of this is coming out. Out. Out. Out. Out. Out. Out. You've got any more? We're gonna see how many wire hangers you've got in your closet. Wire hangers, why? Why? Christina, get out of that bed. Get out of that bed. You live in the most beautiful house in Brentwood and you don't care if your clothes are stretched out from wire hangers. And your room looks like some two-dollar-a-week furnished room in some two-bit back street town in Okalahoma. Get up. Get up. Clean up this mess.
Are you saying you've double-booked yourself for Sunday? Didn't Marcia try doing that on the Brady Bunch?

wow, what a neat closet. Mine is almost empty. My wardrobe is much smaller and most of it is in laundry bags. I have to hit the laurndry room in my complex this weekend or else I will once again end up packing a suitcase of dirty clothes to wash when I get to Nashville. The hotel had a laundry room.

Sometimes I think I am the antiwoman. I don't have a vast wardrobe, I detest buying shoes, and rarely (if ever) wear jewlery.

Disney made a made for TV movie, I think it was last year ,called High School Musical. It was a hit beyond anybody's wildest dreams. They just finished a 48 city tour with this Live Concert Show featuring the stars of the show performing music and dance from the show as well as from the solo projects that they've gotten as a result of the show. There were about 20,000 fans (ages 8-14) there screaming and dancing. The big wildcat is the school's mascot. My daughter is 11 and she thinks it rocks! It's kind of the FAME of this era. What's nice is seeing kids singing songs that aren't suggestive and inappropriate from them to be singing -- it was refreshing. here's one of the songs....

Breaking Free
Troy: We’re soaring, flying
There’s not a star in heaven
That we can’t reach
Gabriella: If we’re trying,
So we’re breaking free
Troy: You know the world can see us
In a way that’s different than who we are
Gabriella: Creating space between us
’Til we’re separate hearts
Both: But your faith, it gives me strength
Strength to believe…
CHORUS 1
We’re breaking free
We’re soaring, flying
There’s not a star in heaven
That we can’t reach
If we’re trying, yeah we’re breaking free
Troy: Can you feel it building
Like a wave the ocean just can’t control
Gabriella: Connected by a feeling
In our very souls
Both: Rising ’til it lifts us up
So everyone can see…
CHORUS 2
We’re breaking free
We’re soaring, flying
There’s not a star in heaven
That we can’t reach
If we’re trying, yeah we’re breaking free
Running, climbing
To get to that place
To be all that we can be
Now’s the time so we’re breaking free
More than hope
More than faith
This is truth
This is fate
And together, we see it coming
More than you
More than me
Not a want, but a need
Both of us breaking free
CHORUS 2
Both: You know the world can see us
In a way that’s different than who we are

BellaGaia PRO 12 years ago
Hang in there Allan (I gotta figure out how to do the mini pix). I think it's in the doing that we'll benefit from it, but I know what you mean. I have made some mini-agreements with myself -- to at least have 1 photo per week that is art-worthy and to NOT default everyday that I don't have something interesting to a self-portrait.... i mean i could join a special group for that if that's what i intended to do. I am finding beauty in the mundane everyday pictures that I see on other diary streams. I am learning to be freer in selecting my shots by appreciating others work also. We're only one month down -- I'm going to keep doing it only because I said I would and there's power in completing what we begin -- plus, what in the world would I do without your cool macro shots!

Glory -- you are right -- we're gonna have to look back on this to see what we gained from it... looking forward, we can't see it yet -- especially only 1/12 of the way into the journey. you know what's funny, I didn't fear rejection because I mostly expect it. I think I expect betrayal too, but I fear it because it means that I gave my trust and it wasn't honored (and it's so hard for me to give in the first place) -- you know what I mean....(is it possible that i used that insipid phrase twice in this posting -- am i 12!!!)

Ali -- I thank you for stopping by to look at it. Sharing with the group helps keep me inspired! thanks!
lramiro520 12 years ago
@ Bella: Your journal looks like a few that I kept just a couple of years ago. Thanks for sharing that with us! Your diary is great so far, even if you think that it may look like a scrapbook! These are little snippets of your life. These are things and people that are meaningful to you. I appreciate the parts of your life that you share with us, and I hope you'll continue in sharing your story with us in the way that you've been doing so far!

@Allan: Don't give up! Remember that you are (hopefully) doing this, first and foremost, for yourself. The year is still young and so on the grand scale, you've really only taken a handful of pictures. I don't find your work to be uninspired at all. From reading your commentaries, the photos have a greater meaning, whether the pic looks like a simple snapshot or something that was highly thought out. What matters is that each image means something to you. The opinions of others, I think is less important.

LOL -- Before you give me any prizes for being a genius, you better hear about today's photo and the other point of note is that I took other photos tht were perhaps more "photo worthy

" than today's choice. I promised i would use this one and the story that goes along with it.....

Okay, so we both spotted him the minute we walked into Chipotle, this Diamond in the Rough. I don’t know about you guys, but I really have a thing for men’s noses… (go figure) and his nose made me do a double take. My friend and I exchanged glances and both said – “he has no idea”…. He was completely oblivious to his good looks. This is LA, so that is rare. He had this geeky quality that made him even more desirable – dressed like he picked up the first clean (or maybe just the closest) thing he found on the floor. His jacket was reminiscent of some high school skater boy garb. Something Luke Wilson would wear in any of his assorted dazed boy roles – Cordoroy and shearling-ish stuff. Brown non-descript cargo pants and some jacked up sneakers. He pays for his food and goes outside – I’m messing up my order (Barbacoa salad) because I’m distracted…. No no please no rice, yes, black beans are fine – can I have some of all the salsa’s? Not so much cheese, please… thanks. Usually, I am far too cold to be sitting outside to eat – not today – even without sunglasses (because I am apparently a vampire and even the cloudy sky hurts my eyes) I braved the 50 something degree temperature, ok, maybe it was 60 but there was no sun, so that we could look at him. We clearly need to get out more…. Hey, where’s my geeky prince charming? Oh there he is in the corner reading his magazine. So we sat during lunch, making up history for him, Serge. He’s Eastern European (the nose) He doesn’t have a girlfriend (or else he would dress better and maybe not have tiny bleach dots on his pants) He has good taste though (his glasses) What’s he reading? I can’t tell….. We talked about the makeover we would give him – whether or not that would be a good idea or if he would get too much attention then and lose his charm. He got up and walked away to his car and we saw how really skinny he is – that’s ok. We tried to figure out what kind of work he did – how long he’s been in this country (now who’s the geek!) He got into a late model SUV – she says it’s a family car – I say it’s a hauling around stuff car (cuz that’s how I use mine)…. I’m right he had a mountain bike in the back (how do I know? we drove past him). In the end, she got to be his girlfriend… she said she’s so lonesome she doesn’t even have crickets…. And so, I said “fine, have him” in a huff…..

And may I remind you I am not in high school…. But some days it’s just fun to pretend…..

Oh, and re: Jan 31
For a second, I read Sigma Six Black Belt--which might be a little different (Sigma Six is the highly ninja-fied spin-off of G.I. Joe)...or would it? I suppose you could tell me, but then you'd have to, well, you know.
