*drumrolls* Nice to see you posting!

As for painkillers... Yeah, I got addicted to vicodin after my bicycle crash, then I had to quit it. I'm not sure which hurt more... I guess that's part of the recovery process (?)

Happy recovery, and glad to see you around.

Glad to see you're back and posting, not sure if i'd been in hopital i'd remember to take daily photos!!

Hi Simon -- i was only there a few days (july 3, 4 and came home on the 5th).... it was actually a recovery center in the intercontinental hotel in century city.

The wierdest thing was i remember it being like 1;00 in the afternoon, they were 2 hours late starting with me. I met the anesthesiologist and the next thing i remember was waking up..... at midnight. bizarre to just lose all that time. i felt like shit with all that crap in my system

HEY !!!! could someone tell me why i can't see my icon, i have a red x. now it thought it was because the new and unimproved flickr found my lips too sensuous for public viewing, but i switched them and i still can't see it, plus i've got other x's in my stream.... Help!!!! what's the matter with my stuff!!!

OOOH, i can see it now, these new rules are killing me..... LIPS are adult material!!!!!?????

by the way, Sunshine City and Glory's and Glow's icons aren't visible to me either..... argh.... this is not fun

Hey Bella - I hope you are well down the road to recovery. Hospitals are a hard place to live and recovery - well recovery sometimes means percocet. Remember there is use and abuse. Use in this case is appropriate...and that they make you feel good is a nice side effect.

I really think the new icon is best yet. Certainly more seductive than any of the others. I like a little mystery.

We look forward to having you walk the walk again !

whoa, watch them pain killers... they are nasty nasty stuff. I find they do give them out a bit too liberally in the USA. Sure in case of surgery that's understandable, but when my ex had a minor car accident, he banged his knee up against the dashboard (no bleeding, just a big bruise) and when he went to the ER to get himself checked out they gave him Valium (???) and Vicodin for two days. Valium? WTF? lol... he was passed out and dead to the worlkd for 48 hrs. No shit, I said...
Yeah... nasty nasty stuff.
Just as a matter of comparison, when I had my appendix removed, I got 2 shots of pain killer (not sure what kind) in my butt in the one day: one when the anesthetic wore off, and another to sleep. And that was it.

Then again, I always did say that men are sissies!! LOL Well I believe it's medically proven that women's pain threshold is higher. Something about having babies?? LOL

Anyways, I love your new icon too! Hope you can see mine and Glory's soon!!

I had a hard time picking the pix from these few days that i spent in Martha's Vineyard. I took about 200 pix over the three days -- The wedding was great and her events in beautiful locations. Friday's event was a clambake at the Plum Tree Inn. I am not a big lobster, mussel or clam eater so my dinner companions had a lot more to eat -- I was happy with my sausage and potato....

Earlier in the day we just hung out by the pier (or whatever it was by the water) there in Edgartown where we stayed.

Amazing wedding, ...food, champagne, music, dancing, love and laughter sum it up pretty well.

The 2:00 ceremony was at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown. 300 guests were shuttled between various locations with ease on buses and no detail went unnoticed during the day that started with a pre-wedding reception of finger sandwiches and flavored lemonades at the Daniel Fisher House at 1:00 next to the church. The fun continued at the reception that lasted until 10:00 that night. The Soweto String Quartet was flown in from So. Africa to provide music at the church and also at the poolside cocktail party prior to the dinner dance that had a full band with 5 singers. Jeffrey Osbourne was a surprise for us and sang 3-4 songs to the delight of everyone -- everyone was "woo woo wooing". The menu was impecable. In addition to the champagne bar, there was a full bar and a cognac bar for after dinner. After attending this wedding, I don't even feel the need to ever get married, let alone have a wedding.... The best part was that the Bride and Groom requested no gifts and had charities in their registry for donations. THAT may have been the coolest part of it.

Cape Cod

The weekend wound up with a Gospel Brunch and Harbor cruises for those who wanted to see more of the island. I was tired and ready to go -- little did I know I was going to have the return trip from hell. It's no secret that getting to Martha's Vineyard can be a real chore -- like the movie "planes, trains and automobiles" . Well, I didn't take a train, but I took a ferry, a handicap cart and a wheelchair. Going home I had a couple layovers (this was supossed to be a good thing because i needed to make sure I walked and didn't get blood clots in my legs) I flew out of Providence RI and into Philadelphia. We were delayed there and spent 4 hours on the tarmack because of weather. Needless to say, connecting flights were all missed. Ended up in Vegas at 2:00 am. They gave everyone rooms, but for me not being fully mobile, leaving the airport was going to be a bigger hassle than I wanted to deal with since my new flight was leaving at 7:00. So I ended up in a lounge with a minor girl, and a mom and a grandmother traveling with babies and toddlers. At least I got to lie down for a couple hours. But I made it home YAY -- finally.

for the record, i didn't gamble a cent....

The Strip at Dawn from airport

and I've been in bed since I got home. That extra 9 hours traveling home was a bit much for me -- but I'm not sorry I went (someone thought I made a bad decision, I don't)

It's taken about 4 days to feel better and now I do so I'll continue to catch up with my diary. I took a few pix during the week, but I think I missed a day.

That was quite a wedding you went to, probably worth the marathon you undertook to get there and back. Must gave put quite a strain on your still-fragile constitution. Look after yourself Bella!

You got some good photographs! I liked the crystal-ware and the picture of Cape Cod is classic. Funny, I got an email out of the blue on my birthday yesterday from an old girlfriend that I haven't seen for 32 years, and she has retired to Cape Cod.

And you got to see my fellow-countrymen, the Soweto String Quartet. I've got their CD's, but never seen them live.

Wonderful photos, Bella! Although, you said you don't like Lobster & mussel? OMG how can you not.. Ok, I can forgive you for that. :)

I grew up on the east coast and caught my lunch nearly every day- blue crabs, clams & oysters which I would cook on the shore over fire. Good memories.

Anyway- a lot of people don't know this tidbit- but back in the old days, Martha Vineyards had a huge percent of Deaf people- it was in the genes. I think it was something like 40 percent of the population was Deaf. So as a result, the entire island knew sign language. Sounds like heaven to me. ;-)

That has changed, of course, over the few years. There's still some original Deaf people left, but not like it used to be.

Take good care of yourself, Bella... Glad you got to go! Sounds like that experience is not one to miss.

Being a mom means that even when you feel like absolute crap you have to do what you have to do. my friend has been taking jade to tennis lessons all summer and today she had a memorial service to attend in the evening, so she could drop off, but not pick up her daughter and jade. There's no way I couldn't do it -- so I drug myself out of bed and because of the timing, I had to cook for them, so I went to the store and got something for dinner before I picked them up. Came back home. popped the rice, green beans and chicken in pots, and dinner was ready 20 minutes later (I laid down intermittently during that time). It was not fun,.,..
