My day started hella early 5:30am and ended about 2:30am. Entertaining... not for wimps....Dinner for eight, but I don't do it easy, (let me stop before this starts sounding like Tina Turner).
I will not bore you with the entire details. In fact, at the moment i'm so tired i don't even feel like telling the stories of the day --- i did fall down on skid row carrying vases and crystal holders... on my face (well, not entirely,) tore up my foot and kept shopping with blood pouring out and all -- the show must go on.... so as beautiful as everything was, i don't think my photos came out that well (link later when I upload).

That sucks about the hardware just being tossed out... they should donate it to schools or associations or what ever (given that is still works of course...)

As for Glory's pun, she was referring to the "Back to the Future" theme for their prom back in the 50s... (or was it 60s?)

Today a terrible fire broke out in Griffith Park -- there are some vivid photos of it on flickr. I was leaving the office to go to my daughter's school and saw the smoke (about a half hour after the fire began) i thought it was really close like 2-3- miles away. it was more like 10 miles away and obviously got a lot worse as the day wore on.

pigs blood.. the movie Carrie. stephen king wrote a book that was made into a now classic horror film about an awkward girl in high school that no one liked. she was brought on stage during prom to be crowned queen but this was a set up--- a prank. someone pulled a rope and instead of flower petals descending from a bucket held aloft, pigs blood filled that bucket. it poured down and soaked her. she wasn't honored. she was humiliated cruelly. too bad for everyone in the gym that carrie and supernatural powers. she used her telekinesis to slam closed the doors and wreak VENGEANCE.
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago
Hey sunshine.... ummm what she (glory) said....that pretty much sums it up.

and i'm a disney villian lover, they used to have the villians store but not anymore.

Ebil -- Pasadena is pretty close -- not so close that you'd be packing things, but that you've got ash and smoke. about 10 miles. it's funny -- in this group things are so relative. We've got flickr friends in all corners of the world -- sometimes i refer to Arizona as close!

Haven't chosen the pix to post for Saturday yet, but I know the photo i WON"T choose. while walking across the golden gate bridge yesterday, a man jumped. i heard the screams, i had my camera in my hand and clicked off 3 shots. it was a surreal experience.... it was kinda scary because he was wearing a green jacket and we were frightened at first thinking it was one of the girl scouts.

Sunshine City -- the golden gate bridge is the #1 suicide place in the world and 98% of the people that attempt it there succeed. It takes 4 seconds to drop and is supossedly the equivalent of hitting a cement wall at 70 MPH (i found that on the internet this morning) they don't publicize it in the news because they don't want to encourage anyone else. It's one of the world most recognizeable structures and it carries a dark side too.....

Bella, what a shock, seeing the jumper must have been.

I would not joke about something like this, so I assure you what I am about to say is true. I saw---actually helped--a man parachute off the Golden Gate Bridge--the first one to do it and live, according to him.

I happened upon a group of hippies at the center point as I was walking across the bridge in the fog right after dawn. They enlisted my help lowering the guy down with a huge canvas strap, where he hung for a moment as a boat attempted to hold a position under the bridge. Then the man opened a chute to the wind and released himself.

None of the passing cars stopped, or took notice. It was a publicity stunt that failed. None of the authorities or newspapers believed he had done it.

I am not sure why I was on the bridge that morning, but the experience convinced me I did not want to jump off that thing.

I was 17 and flunking out of San Francisco State College at the time.

It was 1968, and if you know your history, it was not a particularly good year to be optimistic about the human condition.

The details that came to light in the aftermath of the stunt are kind of funny, and I will relate them to you if you ask.

Great pics, Bella. About the4th of May, (computer hardware), it doesn't just go "out of sight", it goes all the way to India or Pakistan, where backyard operations are recycling the precious metals. If you think there's a few grams (probably 0.5 to 2 grams) of gold in the average computer, imagine what the workers make, working barefoot in dingy places swamped in acids and other strong etching chemicals...

Not sure why dark hair is a mistake. It looks pretty dark on your icon, and it's far from being bad!

Black widow.. nasty!!! Bad spiders. We have some of these, and also brown recluses.. Those are bad too. I've been bit by a couple recluses.. and it makes several inches of your skin around the bite rot and fall off.

EWWWWWWWW

Do you have those freaky garden spiders in your neck of woods? About as big as your hand, and weaves a crazy-cool-neat spiderweb with thick yellow threads crisscrossing? Those are freaky even tho harmless.. No spider should be as big as your hand.

Hmm.. I should go hunt some down for a photosession..... and flip some of you out.. hehe
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago
I had no idea everybody was so creeped out by spiders. I live in a house full of them... the little variety. I think they're good for something, arently they....I only get rid of the black widows and gratefully, have never seen anything vaguely resembling the brown recluses THOSE are bad news. -- JAllen -- ONLY several inces of your skin rot & fall off 8-0 --- Now, That's the spider to be scurred of.
Yep we have those gi-normous brown spiders here in the fall. They call them pumpkin spiders or something like that. .... well, they might not be the same ones you refer to because they for sure aren't as big as my hand. Yes, I'd love to see it.

Sunshine city, Rome must be a nice place because i've seen plenty nastier stuff than that spider (don't you guys think it's the teensiest bit pretty and shiny and beautifully shaped?). Cockroaches which, thankfully, knock on everything, I've never seen anywhere near my property, but have seen plenty, creep me out. I even saw an albino one once! imagine the population distribution to get to the probablility of that..... (okay, sally, wheel the stat geek back in)
Oh and the spider wasn't IN my house... in my detached garage. I would probably freak a bit if they were inside. I'm not afraid of them, but I don't want one to bite me.

Hurry up and add 10 comments so we can get a new page and everybody can stop having to see the spider.....i'll post the pix i'm late on.

* off to tango!
Dragonhide 11 years ago
Oh hey, those albino roaches... I believe that they are roaches that recently shedded their shell and growing a new one... I read that somewhere.

Pumpklin spiders.. oh yeah.. also Wolf spiders.. they JUMP!!! I don't mind spiders so much, but I do jump back when those critters jump..

I actually appreciate it when spiders spin a glorious web in my doorway of my house... as long as I remember to duck under the web.

Reason being where I live, we have GADZILLIONS of moths and bugs waiting to fly in when we enter the house. The web stops them :)

Betcha wish spiders ate rodents, Bella... hehe
BellaGaia PRO 11 years ago

I am not scared of spiders in the least. But of course I was a grown up man when the movie Arachniphobia came out. I am not sure people realized they were supposed to be terrified of spiders until then.

Not scared of the dark either, not even alone in the woods. I always assumed I was the most dangerous thing in the vicinity.

It has taken years, but I have internalized the fact that for years now, that has not been true. As Superman said once, "There's a lot of damn Kryptonite out there, yo."
AliThinks 11 years ago
Holy bejeezus, that really is a scary spider! The only ones that don't scare me are daddy longlegs, but apparently those aren't even real arachnids...anyway, yeah, I learned that black widows are dangerous, so that makes it even more scary. *shudder*

On the other hand, I usually leave spiders alone, since they eat insects. But that? I would have had to kill it (while I was sh*tting my pants).
