Group DescriptionThe Manono Island is Samoa's third most populated island with a population of about 1200 (Wikipedia says 600 but this is not correct). The island is skipped by virtually all tourists making it a real paradise for anyone looking for adventure, friendly people and an island that has not changed at all in the last 100 years. You will not see motorised vehicles on the island (well, you will not see any vehicles actually), there is just one small path that takes you around the island in about 1.5h - 2h. The people are incredibly friendly and will always want to exchange a few words with you even if they can only ask your name in english. You will be as interesting to them as they are to you, anyway. The life on Manono is very different than elsewhere. The men go to the coral reef spear-fishing every morning on their traditional tree-carved canoes and come back only once they catch enough fish to feed the family.
Only since very rencently you can stay on the island at Sunset View Fales (you can look this up on the net for phone number etc.). This experience is just amazing, you actually live with the family, you can see how traditional food is being made and go snorkeling in the coral reef (or watch the men spear-fish).
