Group DescriptionBIG on Bloor is back again for 2011! We welcome everyone: volunteers, artists, performers, residents, families, visitors and businesses.
On July 23/24, 2011 the BIG on Bloor Festival, Bloor Street from Dufferin to Lansdowne celebrates business, community, arts and culture with a unique community and city-building festival featuring hundreds of events, activities and exhibitions. There will be large-scale participatory commissioned art projects, two stages filled with performers, musicians, singers, dancers, theatre, and karate.
More than 300 participants will have table exhibitions that line the street and feature their projects, information or events. Community awards and interactive events for families and children ensure local investment. BAAF: Bloor Alternative Art Fair brings art institutions, collectives, galleries and artists to the street. Crafts, story-telling, face painting, green and social information, dog shows and much more will be enjoyed. Strolling buskers and parades weave through the crowds.
Our famously diverse restaurants - East African, South Asian, Somali, Caribbean, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian and Canadian host food, music and dance, some with outdoor extended licensed patios. July 23 Bloor is car-free and filled with table exhibitions. July 24, Bloor Street is re-opened to traffic and the festivities continue on Bloor side-streets, stores and restaurants, Kent School grounds and Susan Tibaldi Park.
