Group Description

GM introduced a new safety feature in 1974. The ACRS (air cushion restraint system) had a drivers and passenger air bag to protect you in a front impact. Shoulder belts were omitted if you ordered this $300 option. Due to the critical angle of deployment, a tilt wheel option was not available if you ordered the ACRS option. It was not available on the Eldorado convertible or formal limousines. The deploying airbag could push you out the convertible top or push your driver into the limousine partition window. Thus it was not offered o those two models. Unique features included a lower dash glovebox and ashtray that different from standard design. The ACRS system was also offered on the Buick Electra, Riviera, Olds 98 and toronado.
