Hi, Are there any other VR photographers, I have just added another vr..

Famous Manchester Pillar Box

View from top of Friar Gate Bridge, Derby.

Street Lamp Post

Group Description

This group is fully open to photographers around the world, its objective is to collate photographs of everything that the Victorian Derby Iron Founder has produced.
These include Bridges, Post Boxes, Ornate Fountains and urns, Roofs, buildings, Kiosks, Railway Ironwork etc.

I don't think the people of Derby (where all this stuff was made) actually realise just what an impact Handyside had on the world.

Andrew Handyside and Company of Derby and London have produced an amazing quantity of Iron work all around the world. Everything from Railway bridges, Kiosks, Railway Station roofs, Fountains and of course hundreds of post boxes.

Here are a few examples of his work:
Bridges :
Friar Gate Bridge, Amiens Street Bridge, Findhorn Viaduct, Trent Bridge, Barton Swing Bridge, Hayhurst Swingbridge, Glebe Island Swing Bridge, Albert Bridge, Midland Road Bridge, Castletown Habour Swing Bridge, Britannia Bridge, Warburton High Level Bridge, Holgate Road bridge, Albert Bridge Belfast, Meadowbank Railway Bridge, River Dee Railway bridge.

Fountains:
Derby Arboretum fountain, Tan Kim Seng fountain, Carriedo Fountain, Stavanger Fountain Norway, Temple Newsam fountain, Chateau Impney fountain, Prince Alfred College fountain in Adelaide, Curling Drinking Fountain in Eastbourne.

Roofs and buildings:
Nottingham Railway Station, Charing Cross Station roof, Montevideo Railway Station, Green Park station, Amsterdam Centraal, Manchester Central Station, Olympia, Esplanade Mansion India, Windsor & Eton Central railway station, former Broad Street Station London, Tucuman Railway Station, Durban Railway station

Other Items:
blacksmiths Forges at Underfall yard in Bristol, Lighting column in Derby.

I am including any items produced at the Britannia Foundry in Derby, early stuff was by Weatherhead and Glover.

If you find anything out there by Andrew Handyside of Derby or marked as Britannia Foundry Derby then please ADD it to this group and let me know so I can add it to my map.

As of February 2011 I was finding so much stuff that I decided to create a dedicated blog to Andrew Handyside, this meant I was able to go into great detail about each item.
I now have a dedicated Friar Gate Bridge/Andrew Handyside blog up and running
Friar Gate Bridge/Andrew Handyside Blog

I am creating a world map showing the precise locations where the work can be found:

I am creating a world map of his work on here :
maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=208452953436306162382.0004...

Please feel free to add your own photographs to this group of work by Andrew Handyside, I will then add links on my map to your photographs.

The ultimate aim of this group and my map it to make people realise just how important Andrew Handyside's iconic Friar Gate Bridge in Derby is and that it must be restored out of respect.
Please sign my petition to get the bridge restored :
