Group DescriptionEd Swearingen started Swearingen Aircraft, as a modifier of Beech airframes, lost funding during production of the Metro, and was purchased by Fairchild Aircraft, renamed Fairchild Swearingen, then Swearingen Aviation Corporation. Ed then resigned and retained the Swearingen name and formed Swearingen Aircraft Corporation, to produce the SA-30 Fanjet. Gulfstream marketed the model as the SJ-30 Gulfjet, but later withdrew from the agreement. Swearingen obtained backing from the Jaffe Group, and the aircraft was redesignated the SJ-30. A Taiwanese group invested in the company, thus changing the company name to Sino Swearingen. SSAC lost a major investor group, then a Dubai group, the Emirates Investment and Development Corporation, purchased SSAC and changed the name to Emivest Aerospace Corporation. The SJ30-2 is a stretched version of the original SA-30, and is currently in production in San Antonio, TX and Martinsburg, WV .
With the bankruptcy of Emivest, UT based Metalcraft Technologies, has bought the SJ-30 line and plans on moving the production to Cedar City, Utah. They changed the name of the company to SyberJet and continue to produce the aircraft.
