Mister "H" ADMIN August 20, 2009
This pool is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary - the Christian belief that having completed the course of her earthly life, the Virgin Mary was assumed body and soul to heaven. The dogma on the Assumption was infallibly defined by Pius XII on November 1, 1950 in his Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus. In those denominations that observe it, the Assumption is a major festival, commonly celebrated on August 15. In many countries, it is a Roman Catholic Holy Day of Obligation.
Group DescriptionOn November 1, 1950 amid a crowd of more than 500,000, Pope Pius XII defined the dogma of the Assumption of Mary, as...
"By the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and by our own authority, we pronounce, declare, and define it to be a divinely revealed dogma: that the Immaculate Mother of God, the ever Virgin Mary, having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory."
