Arnden's Space- you will be starting us off for round 2 in May. Have you decided on a theme or whether you are sending out fabric? Curious minds want to know. :-)

I want to do the same blocks that have been going around flickr recently... but a little differently. Like this one (www.flickr.com/photos/arnden/4487993068/), but with blue and green colors only. However, I need to find the original pattern and ask permission first, I think.

I was thinking of sending out some Kona white for the background and letting everyone use scraps for the blue and green colors. I am planning on checking the Kona selection at the store this weekend.

I will get it all figured out and mailed by the 20th, okay?

Well well do I love that block? Of course I do I sent it out to another swap and had it done in christmas , cant for the life of me think of the name of it, see what you all have to look forward too, the mind or body goes first, cant decide which one, mine are having a race.
I have LOTS of blues and greens.
Do you still need the site for this? Its red peppers. OK I will be back and get the link. www.redpepperquilts.com/2009/10/galaxy-of-stars.html

I asked the original lady who Red Pepper Quilts got the idea from and she says she saw it somewhere else and does not claim the pattern, so I am guessing it is free reign by now.

Kimmie is getting me the address list. I plan on sending a 1/4 yard of Kona white and letting you all use your own blue and green scraps. I have a basic set of instructions and if you need more details I can write up more.

Yes, I am a follower of Rita's blog. That is where I originally saw this quilt, but I asked the lady from whom she (RPQ) was inspired. Fabric is cut, packed and just needs to be addressed.

The link took me to the quilt but I did not see the tutorial? Am I missing something (totally possible as I'm functioning on little sleep :) ).

I couldn't find the instructions either. So I don't think you are missing anything. But I would still like to find the instructions if anyone knows how to get them. I know she is sending them with the fabric. So I might just have to wait. I am so impatient sometimes.

Well I went in and looked and it doesnt have the instructions, all squares are 2 1/2" . I am sure she has found the pattern. Sorry about the misinformation

To make this block you will need…
16 – 2.5” solid white squares
16 – 2.5” blue/green squares
32 – 2.5” half square triangles (made however you want, but Rachel at ‘p.s. i quilt’ has a great tutorial www.psiquilt.com/2010/02/half-square-triangle-tutorial.html)

This block is pieced from just plain squares and half square triangle blocks. Putting all these pieces together though is not as difficult or confusing as it looks. Ultimately each of these 16.5 inch square star blocks is made up from just two different four-patch blocks that alternate and rotate as required.

Eight of both of these 4.5” four patch blocks are needed to make up one of the large star blocks.

is it OK to use primarily blue and green fabrics that have other colors in them, or would you prefer more tone-on-tone blues and greens?
