    A large Christmas tree with lights was set up at Pariser Platz on the east side of Brandenburg Gate. Snow was falling heavily, and winds were blowing snow in all directions. Over on one side of the tree was this beautifully wrapped "gift", as if it were a Christmas present to the German capital city.
