Just at the time when our economy is plummeting even further into the hole and people out there don't have the disposable income to spend on these things anymore..they raise the prices. from a consumer point of view:
1. If Open Space Sims are a burden on the operating costs of Linden Lab, are they going to purchase additional servers, routers, switches, etc.. the infrastructure needed to support this demand on their system?
2. They should have prepared for this ahead of time.. very poor planning on the IT Dept.
3. They have enough money already...

Bah!
i'm not a politician but i support your efforts and all OS owners <3

Estan zumbaos. Lo que han conseguido es que me interese por Openlife, me compre Second Inventory, y me esté migrando a toda pastilla a Openlife. Si no revierten los precios, a corto plazo me desharé de más de la mitad de los Openspaces, y a largo plazo me desvincularé completamente de Second Life.

En slexchange.com (ahora se llama de otra manera, pero aún funciona el nombre antiguo). Te permite pasar las cosas sobre las que tienes plenos derechos (es decir, no es un copybot). La versión multi-avatar, que es la que te permite usarlo para todos tus alts y eso, cuesta unos 11.000 linden. Viene un objeto SL y un programa windows. Y soporta Second Life, Openlife, y un monton de mundos más! :-)

You've got my support too Z! I just can't understand why Linden Labs thinks this is a "wise" thing to do? As I think I said already, it really reminds me how greedy Ebay got and how many sellers they lost as a result.
You hardly find any individual sellers on there now. It's all businesses.
I already signed up for my account on OL, now I just have to figure out how to back up my SL inventory...I began reading the instructions..I think I'll have to print them.

Ultimately, this is a business mistake on LL's part. It shows that there is a flaw in their internal communications and business planning and I think that LL needs to get their marketing, production (or whoever manages hosting ), product development, and customer support groups talking and working together much more effectively in the development of programs like this. If they really wanted open space in SL then they should have severely limited the prims allocated to the land for this program, made very clear usage "rules" (not suggestions), and allocated staff to deal with users who abused these terms of use.

Instead you have this...a large group of users really unhappy with a carte blanche price change levied at them due to poor business planning LL. I know it was not intended as such but this feels like "Bait and Switch" tactics.

Good luck with you "discussion" with LL, i hope everyone gets what they want in the end.

It sounds to me that Linden Labs are trying to act like a bank would - entice people in with decent-sounding offers and then once they have enough of these customers then club them all over the head with huge fee imposts. In Australia we have another "B-word" that has been applied to banks and it sounds like it could be applied to Linden Labs as well. I'll let someone else work out what precise "B-word" I mean! ^_^

Axel, I haven't seen much complacency... but I have been hanging out with *really* angry people this week ;)
It's probably fair to say that the majority of people who don't own or rent an OS sim don't care, but the number of blog posts, protests, threatened law suits and complaints on the Jira (which I heard is a record for any issue) has to help the cause.
Of course, the more people who voice an objection to this outrageous money grab the better. You're absolutely right when you say this will affect *everyone* eventually.

@Axel: It will hurt SL greatly. Trust is now broken beyond repair. I'm downsizing my precense in SL regardless of whether the'll change theyr decision or not. One cannot trust a company that does this kind of things.
