Absolutely fantastic work. I would without a doubt buy that on a t-shirt, or even better a wall poster. Other comments said this failed to win a Threadless contest (I swear, sometimes the things people vote against or for on Threadless makes me think they are not from this planet at all), but I hope you'll offer it on Zazzle or something for us to buy. If you put it up now while you're still riding the wave of awesome from all the links you're getting, you could probably make some decent money and we'd get awesome apparel. It's a win-win. ;)

i know, i'd love it. i'm seriously going to pen up a one shot comic of it now. and we don't even have to use specific names...it'll just be a wink and nudge reference to the cartoon we love. for an older smarter audience. i'd probably ditch the colorings on the van too. being a van is enough reference.

i still think it's funny most everyone assumes it's just the zombie apocalypse. :)
she has silver bullets, stakes, claw wounds, etc.
it's a monsterpocalypse! :)

if i had the time when i was designing/subbing it would have had a background of all the various typical monsters in silhouette approaching/surrounding in the background.
in the end, i couldn't get it to look they way i pictured it, and i kind of liked the vagueness of not having any of them.

GHM327 Photo Blog says:

what in the world makes you think you need to protect your work with that ugly watermark? Bootleg shirts in Thailand? were you really planning to market this design there? or any other Developing nation?

first off if you dont want someone using your image, dont place it on the web, and second if someone copys your work and even sells it by some means, thats just free advertising for you as an artist!

you should thank people who like your work enough to take it and do anything with it, and while your at it, place this image in a Creative Commons license, that way people can use it for anything they want as long as they credit you and dont sell it, and even use the Developing Nations clause so people can sell them for a profit in parts of the world where you have no real market anyway!

Dont be an IP nazi or people will go out of their way to mess with you and spread it far and wide just to teach you a lesson.

Besides, arent these character licenses already owned by Hanna Barbara/ Cartoon Network/VIACOM? if you havent 'Stolen' this from someone then no one is going to 'steal' it from you! Thats called 'Building on the Past' and if its ok for you to do it, then its ok for anyone to do the same to you!

i for one love the art and i wish someone would go flesh out fully the comic book fanfic story that your art seems to allude too! i would buy that comic book and download the movie illegally when it comes out! ;]

i like to think of it being that 'the Gang' was out solving 'Mysteries' when a Really Real monster [Zombies Preferred of course] outbreak occurs, and being that 'the Gang' was already street smart, highway running, puzzle solvers of a higher order than the average person, it seems only natural that they would be great survivalists! oh course 'T' happens to be the best apparently...

Dr. Monster  Pro User  says:

yes well, being unemployed, broke, in debt and starving at the moment and having several of my things in the past be used without link, credit or permission was not my idea of a good time.
also, for the time being, for the next 60 days or so the image is actually owned by threadless.com should they decide to print it. threadless tees are commonly duped by bootleggers. i'm protecting that option for them.

further more, most of the work i show my friends on flickr is work or WIP for clients that do not wish their product to be distributed or used. in that way, i try to keep everything small enough and at 72 dpi to not be printable, but still represent me as an artist. i made the excited mistake of offering a very large file of this illustration at first.

is trying to bring notice to my availability as a freelance artist by giving my address an IP nazi? it has already worked in spades in the past day or two to bring me small gigs that i need to survive by.
there is a time and place for creative commons and this new breed of art sharing. perhaps when my life is not such a struggle i will dispense files like candy, i can think of one aspect, like offering printable paper toys, etc.
i certainly hope you are not threatening me with 'messing with me' because i have hundreds of frienda and contacts who have faved this and i'm sure a good number of them are hackers with nothing better to do as well.

building off the past? have you never heard of homage, reference or parody? surely those are art terms as well. this is actually not velma, scooby doo or the mystery machine in any other way than association and assumption, technically.
people can build off of my redesign all they want, but can they print this on a tee and make money off of it before i ever have the option?
in what world is giving everything away that you do going to put food in my belly? yet you support someone else doing that with my drawing? it makes no sense.

and btw, i do have an imagekind profile.
travispitts.imagekind.com
why don't you support an artist?

Geez, give him a break will you? There is nothing wrong with choosing not to give away a work which the artist has not even had the chance to benefit from himself.

"first off if you dont want someone using your image, dont place it on the web"

So you'd rather he never posted it at all?
