Ice

Ice

We had a 'snowpocalypse' a week and a half ago. I lost power on Wednesday and it wasn't returned until Sunday night. As of now, there are about 3,000 home still without power, but that's an improvement from the initial 500,000 or more that did lose power due to all the trees falling on power lines. The wind storm that followed also knocked out the power in most areas, so we dubbed it 'snowpocalypse', 'snowmageddon', 'snow-m-g'...

It wasn't all that bad. Courtney got her power back before I did, so I went to her place for heat. We were able to make a fire, as well as get hot water from our faucets. The worst we got was the tree out front having a big branch split in half as a result of the weight of the branches.

The worst I think was Orting, which had three full-sized oak trees have it's massive branches break off. They ended up closing the park there as a result. Roads were closed, traffic lights were out, and businesses weren't open. So a lot of playing board games and family bonding was experienced. It's now over, and we can go back to our daily lives, but it was an interesting, frustrating experience.

As for the Los Angeles blogger who called us 'snow wimps', try living in a hilly area where the snow melts to ice instead of packing together. Then call us wimps while your city experiences a warning over a third inch of rain one day.
