I'm feeling contradictory tonight and after hours of looking through instagram shots I decided that I too wanted to use thousands of dollars worth of photograhy equipment and software to make something that looks like it was taken on a camera that was made in the Soviet bloc on a bad day with expired film. Which is to say I'm halfway between liking this trend for the aesthetic and hating it for the lack of thought goes into a lot of the photos taken by my iPhone wielding counterparts. It's the same basic argument I had against the Lomography crowd a few years back; pictures of food and shoes are usually not all that interesting no matter how much of an instant art machine you were sold. Of course this photo is trash in of itself so I'm probably a hypocrite but so be it.
