Here is Asheville in a nutshell. by zen.
2 concerned people, 1 shy in the background, 1 dancing hippy and 1 obsessed with herself. That's our demographics!

The no-right turn sign says it, really.

Awesome. The concerned woman looks very tired, like she's bearing the weight of the world. The concerned man is harder to read, but then they often are.

heh, soupie. You need to have a real opinion, instead of one thought up for you by television. Don't let what others think or what authority says to think influence what YOU think, examine each possibility for its own.

Wonder for a moment why the blonde looks so sad. What music the hippy is dancing to. Why the woman behind puts her camera in front of her sign. Expand your thoughts about people and why they are like they are - it's truly an act of caring, and you'll feel better for it, really!

Nothing at all wrong with having an opinion, but try and make as many of them your very own!

I love the dancing that is a protest I could really get into. But I think those white shoes are a little too nice relative to her cause.

To Bikebreath: According to Reuters (based on UN data), the current death rate for children worldwide due to malnutrition (including starvation) is 6 million/year - that's 16,438/day or 685 deaths/hour. See article here: www.ezilon.com/information/article_14055.shtm l

To Zen♫ : Damn good shot!

we need to put more focus and money towards our own people. not that we should forget everyone else but i mean seriously we have enough problems that nobody seems to care about

Robin Dude  Pro User  says:

To Smilee shakes: Past polls indicate most Americans believe their nation spends a high percentage of its GNP on foreign aid. The real number is actually less than 1/4 of 1%: "...year after year almost all rich nations have constantly failed to reach their agreed obligations of the 0.7% target. Instead of 0.7%, the amount of aid has been around 0.2 to 0.4%, some $100 billion short. Furthermore, the quality of the aid has been poor...." For complete data see: www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Debt/USAid. asp#Almostal...

Foreign aid is in the national interest, & can properly be regarded as part of a nation's pursuit of commerce. America could afford to do vastly more both at home & abroad to improve human welfare while in the same stroke increasing its wealth, but not while its business & political leaders remain demented by insane ideology & driven by short-term personal greed.

bikebreath: Yes, the whole big world...

SteveMartin: It's precisely people with nice shoes that should make it their cause to help the destitute. The ones with no shoes can't afford to help themselves, let alone others.

Anyway, the two holding the signs look like they drew the short straws and it's their shift for sign holding.

While the hippy dude is really gettin' down! I dig! :o)

The thing that people forget is that people who voted to send American son's and daughters to war, have not sent their own children, or grandchildren. The congress and senate just voted to kill other Americans children, while protecting their own.. Not to mention the coward in the white house that is showing "Poppy" what a great man he is by murdering the innocents.

And the photographer, you forgot the photographer, Zen. An essential part of the demographic. Red does have a camera. Did she take a picture of you when she finished fiddling with her hair?

Great capture. I love Asheville.

Yes, rob, you're absolutely right - i forgot the photographer, and i am part of this wonderous demographic. Sometimes i think i fit in mostly because i'm another tolerant person rather than any one thing about me.

And Robin - thank you for the fact-slinging that gives me really strong meat to sink my teeth into. I didn't know our committment to helping foreign states was aiming so low in the first place!

Hmm, by my math aren't there >3< concerned people in the pic, 1 hippie and 1 "other" ? Dont forget the 'shy' lady in the background wearing the signage as well.

Also it's interesting two of them appear to also have cameras.

One of those shots where the more you look the more you see. I like it a lot. Your caption made me laugh out loud :)
