Taxed to death!!

My car is being traded in for a brand spanking new one taking advantage of the government 'scrappage' scheme.
The scheme gave me £2000 to trade in a car that cost me £2750 to buy 8 years ago. (The bonus is that the VAT they get back is less than £2000)

In the time I have owned it I have paid a total of £926.25 in road tax.
The new car's tax will be only £35.00 per year saving me £85 per year.
