Lives passing under a bridge on a snowy evening

This shot was taken a year ago today. This was the brief snow "storm" we had the sunday before Christmas. I had never gotten the opportunity to take photos of this bridge in the snow, so I raced home that day to grab my camera gear and make it down to the bridge. At first I walked halfway across the bridge, before the blowing wind and snow overcame even my desire to remain out on the structure shooting. So I decided to use the remaining daylight I had and went underneath the bridge. As I was sitting here reloading a very nice young couple came by with their dogs. We chatted a few moments as we were the only people out that evening enjoying the experience. As the young lady went down the stairs ahead of her boyfriend/husband I grabbed this quick shot with my Pentax 6x7. I like the slightly off-center placement of the bridge as well as the human element of it, there was very little forethought here, I just reacted on some level. Maybe that is why I like this shot so.

The atmospheric effect crossed with the wonderful architechure makes for a classic composition! They just don't make great bridges like this anymore.

Outdoor cathedral! I like being taken from the perky tail of the dog to the Gothic monumental weight of the bridge. Very enjoyable!

Like looking down the nave of a wall-less Gothic cathedral. Feels very connected to the elements, nice mood.

Perhaps remnants of this bridge will be the Stonehenge of a future millennium. Very haunting!

The human element was what made the shot IMHO. Great shot!
