The infamous maximum security prison that has housed such people as Merle Haggard, Charles Manson and currently Scott Peterson. Johnny Cash also once recorded/performed here. The most recent execution in California was held here, as most are I assume.

I always look forward to this part of the ferry ride to and from Larkspur. This structure is really quite stunning to see, and a little eerie knowing it's purpose and inhabitants.
