One waiting for Daddy. The other plotting and looking at Mommy. by ~ Liberty Images

One waiting for Daddy. The other plotting and looking at Mommy.

Just saying.

The kids & I hope y'all have a splendid weekend. :) We've got some catch-up gardening to do, some photos to work on, some emails to catch-up with, some places to visit...you know the drill. It's finally kinda warm here...84 today! Maybe now the tomatoes will grow. :)

Hello II by ~ Liberty Images

Hello II

See, I've not wasted away just yet! ;) Though I do need to learn the false eyelash application thing, just for accuracy's sake...

About a month ago, I caught Howard Hawks' "Ball of Fire" on TCM and LOVED it. What a treat! Barbara Stanwyck is, of course, delightful, and Gary Cooper is convincing and downright adorable as a professor completely befuddled by the lively and pulchritudinous dame dropped into his life without warning. (The entire cast is delightful, to be honest.) Not only was the movie good...Stanwyck's hair was mahhhhhvellous! Enviably so. How could a dame resist? This is my attempt to mimic it, though it's probably fair to say my bangs are far longer than hers, and I probably have a thicker head of hair anyhow (according to my hairdresser).

Anyhow, here 'tis. What do you think? I kind of like it, to be honest.

Oh, here are some pictures & a little info about the film. The trailer. And what probably should be an iconic image in filmdom. I cannot recommend this charming movie enough.

As I see more & more of Stanwyck's films (having first encountered her simultaneously hot-blooded and chilling performance in "Double Indemnity"), I fall more and more in love with her, so to speak. What an excellent, wonderfully talented actress. If you ask me, she's grossly underrated, considering the broad spectrum of characters she played so very well. She's seen as more of a sexpot than the formidably excellent actress she was.

Keep your Audrey Hepburn. I want to be Barbara Stanwyck.

I liked the sky :) by ~ Liberty Images

I liked the sky :)

Check out the menacing clouds! Nothing ever came of them, and indeed, they passed quickly. But the sign looks so cool against them, the sign being hit by the sun...!

Enjoy large!
