Excelisior!

Talk about riding off into the sunset! The Mother Road continues westward just a handful of yards from Kobels' boarded-up front door. Oh, I love it and miss it so!

It's a bigger place than I expected, Kobel's. And there's a lot of tall grass, so if you go crawling around, definitely keep an eye out for snakes (spotted: none) and check yourself thoroughly for ticks (found: none, miraculously, considering our earlier experiences on this trip) after getting out of the weeds!

Kobel's Place

Kobel's Place

At least I believe that is what it is, and there's less and less of it left by the year, no doubt. Near Foss, OK, at the 66-44 JCT.

As well as restrooms & cigarettes. Can't quite make out the rest (but then, I don't have my glasses on, either).

Man's best friend

Man's best friend

On New Year's Eve day, Hubby and I went to an agility competition one of his coworkers had mentioned to us. We'd missed one in the autumn, and I really wanted to go, as we think it might be good for Ben to do this sort of thing.

We figured we'd only stay for an hour or two, but we ended up staying for the entire competition! It was at an indoors arena and a lot of fun. We had a great time watching all of the various dogs, in all sizes and breeds, take the course. It's hard not to have fun around dogs doing that!

In the end, though, what impressed me most were the relationships between the humans and their dogs. Obviously, the dog must pay close attention to its handler in order to properly complete the course well. But seeing all those sweet doggy eyes gazing up at their handlers—you can't tell me these creatures don't have feelings or emotions, as some will. What a beautiful thing.
