Glamour Wreath by ~ Liberty Images

Glamour Wreath

The feather wreath I made our first Christmas here (much better picture, though). It's too big to fit between the front door and the glass door, so it hangs on our basement door (which faces into the hallway and thus, by default, our living room). That's fine. We wouldn't want Mailman Rob so mesmerized by its floofiness that he remains on the porch, staring for hours.

Isn't this cute? This actually came from ebay. Not big enough for our kitchen table, it serves nicely as holiday cheer for the credenza in the living room, don't you think?

Although it does appear that two of the reindeer are on vacation or something... ;)

Also, my expert friends: Does this qualify as "Kitschmas"-y?

(Someone wanted to see these.)

This is yet another fabulous Goodwill find! Pyrex, in all of its cheery wonderfulness, for only $7. Not the Christmas kitsch I was hoping for, but would YOU have walked away?

(BTW: Anyone know what pattern this is? Is it 'Friendship'?)

Shot on the credenza because that is where the sunlight was at the moment. Eventually I'll get a better shot of the bowls, they're so sweet!

Ben takes a rest from playtime. Another warm-weather photo. Largify.

Tonight, taking one of our walks, Ben & I stopped to chat with a neighbor who was admiring Ben's dashing good looks (we really do live in Mayberry, you know). He told me that about a week ago, someone else in our charming little neighborhood lost their dog...to a COYOTE. Yes, a coyote. He told me he's actually seen them trotting right up the middle of the street in the evenings...And we thought having small herds of deer wander down the street in the early morning hours was amusing (unless the neared the garden)! He told me the coyotes are quite bad this year, especially at the close edges of the mountain (I'd believe that, since it drops down to the river and is covered in scrub and brush).

I've never seen one around, but am glad I've been warned. Ben and I may be bringing along a little extra protection on our walks.

So now we've got deer, bunnies and the like, wild turkeys, eagles, hawks, and coyotes. Pretty...well, I was going to say 'wild', but that's redundant. What's funny is that it really is a pretty little neighborhood, as you can tell from the photo I linked above. It must be our proximity to the river and the abundance of wooded and brush-covered areas in the neighborhood (necessity, being on a mountain, I guess) that lends the wildlife a home!

We hope you all have a good weekend! It has gotten brisk here again, so if you are about and see a short, puffy figure, dressed in black and red and swathed in mittens and scarf with curls poking out of her hat, walking a collie, it is probably me. ;)
