A Peek Inside My Travel Notebook

Flight info.
Ticket price so I can look it up years from now.
I draw a calendar of the weeks in question so I have a handy place to look up dates.
Hotel info (Claska), including a map I copied from their website.
Address of where I had a photo shoot.
Directions to the Hayao Miyazaki museum.
Exchange rate at the time (again, for future reference).
Met my cousin in Tokyo. You don't need to write down that number as it was a rental phone. :P
Little icon of an airplane indicating that I skip a day flying east!
A Peek Inside My Travel Notebook by yusheng.
I may love gadgets and toys and all things electronic, but when it comes to the info I need for travel, I'm decidedly low-tech. On all my trips, I carry a Moleskine ruled notebook where I keep a daily diary of my travel adventures. Before going on the trip, I would write down information on all the places I need to see, confirmation numbers, hotel reservations, car rental, flights, etc, basically whatever I think I may need handy. This is a shot of the 1st two pages from my Tokyo trip in April

Meguro and Nakameguro have many nice design/furniture shops and cool bars/restaurants. Claska will lend you an electric bike and a map with all the cool places circled for you to cruise around the neighborhood.

And my pen? I use Uni-ball Signo UM-151 (super fine 0.38mm). This is my favorite pen to write with. Writes dark and yet fine at the same time as you can see. I used to be able to find them in NYC but haven't seen them in a long time so everytime I'm in Tokyo I pick up a box or two of it to stock up at home.

isn't this a little too much? i mean did you have to draw out the map in the second page? this SCREAMS first time traveller getting overly excited about first trip abroad. it's not... cool.

If being overly excited about traveling, first time or the 100th time, is uncool, then I am very, very uncool!

I love your map. I can imagine that if that route didn't suit you. You could just draw another map on the next page!

kingslandgates; I think this might be a great idea. For someone in a new country, with limited native language skills, having a small map to ask someone "How do i get to this area?" would be a huge benefit. Plus it's a document of a trip, just the same as a photo album full of pictures.

Love the detail. Gives me ideas for any trips I may take in the future. Especially if I travel abroad, would definitely make it easier to be able to point if I don't speak well enough!!
