4 girls wearing different regional variations of Bunad, the Norwegian national dress. Sitting at the obelisk with the statue of Olav Tryggvason. The obelisk acts as a large sundial and is in the center of Trondheims central plaza.
May 17th is the Constitution day in Norway, and most people dress smartly to participate in or to watch the processions.
Bunad has become increasingly popular the last decades, and I would estimate that half of the women i Trondheim this day, wore bunad. The dresses are very expensive, 5-10.000 dollars for a complete outfit, some may be even more expensive. So those who have one, cannot afford not to wear it on May 17th.
There are also similar outfits available for men, but they are far less popular. Women know they look good wearing it.
