Wedding Invitation by Your Pal Dave

Wedding Invitation

For two (incredible) musicians whose romance flourished on the Lower East Side, I collaged images of Broadway and replaced all of the lettering with wedding info. Keith is in the iTunes ad and Lynne's in the record store window, the crosswalk sign is a bride and groom, the walk signs are Keith's left hand (he's a drummer), and a pictogram singer - it's pretty thorough is what I'm saying.

This image was printed as a photograph, tipped onto a black card with silver foil letterpress printing on the inside.

R.U.R. Poster by Your Pal Dave

R.U.R. Poster

2-color silkscreen. Works with the other one or by itself. Huzzay.

The concept behind them is that, at one level, RUR is a creation story (spoiler alert) whereby, at the end, the humans are dead, and the robots are a new Adam & Eve. Thus the biblical imagery of man and woman. Here, created with old etchings from an anatomy textbook of figures who are in fact dead; even the openings under the arms are depicted in the original illustrations, resulting from the dissections. For anyone who cares about these things, I found a lot of miscellaneous machine parts on Google Warehouse, set them up in the purposely-incorrect axon views, rendered them, and then cleaned them up. Actually easier than doing tech drawings or finding scratch.
