In Bahrain some women choose to veil, albeit a very small percentage. Covering or not ( and to what degree) is a contentious issue, involving principles of freedom. tradition, choice, culture, gender roles and history among others.

There are numerous point of views, I'm choosing not to take one, just photographs!

The Airshow and events like it are very much viewed by the Shia majority as an attempt to draw an veneer of normality over a very troubled country.

Tyres are being burnt here in the villages surrounding the airbase where the show was being held.
