Someone destroyed my garden

Someone destroyed my garden by yougrowgirl.
This picture doesn't really show the damage. They literally trampled all over a patch very purposefully, singling out one plant in particular but getting a few others that were mixed in.

Today SUCKS

I'm so sorry. I always feel like it's personal when someone does something to my garden. I feel your pain.

It is personal. And the lawyers across the street who stand outside all day smoking and dumping their butts in the garden where I have to clean them up one by one and who probably witnessed the destruction just stood there staring at me like I was a freak.

It sucks. I am less angry now... until I go look at it and then I am pissed again. I have done nothing to that spot. I can't stand to at this point. My digicam is busted so I can't get a good image of the damage. I took some with a really old digital I had laying about but haven't had a chance to put them on my computer.

I'm so sorry about this. I was astonished when I lived in Switzerland to see the care taken of public and private landscapes alike, knowing that in England the planters and shrubberies are usually easy targets for vandalism. Now I'm back here I'd say that most people consider their gardens safe, but this is so depressing - that a person could be so blind to beauty, care, hardwork, motivation and the other qualities you bring to your work.

I am curious though. Which plant was the target of their attentions? Does that give some clue to the purpose of the damage?

Globe thistle. I think they wanted to urinate against the wall and got prickled by the plant so attacked it.

Im so sorry Gayla,I know how disheartening this kind of thing can be.But Im sure the pleasure that your garden brings to like minded passersby is worth the pain.Still, a pox on destructive ,thoughtless thugs who damage such things.

Well, that was a completely stupid thing to do. Sometimes one despairs. It reminds me of a summer when all the opium poppy seedheads were removed from a community garden designed and managed by a friend of mine for her own neighbourhood in London. Maybe they thought they could smoke them green?

But projects like yours do get across environmental and horticultural information and are so valuable to all involved in them. I hope any discouragement won't last, as the season goes on and harvesting begins....
