One year ago today, I was across the street from the hospital as Arizona's congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was rushed through its doors after the shooting that killed 6 and injured several more. She was shot point blank through the head.
I was in the hospital's conference room on January 12th, honored to be standing in the ranks of news organizations like CNN, when they announced that she was still alive and still hanging on.
Today marks the one-year anniversary of that shooting, and tonight I attended the memorial for those killed last year. It was there that I got this shot -- blurry though it is -- of Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly.
