The book tower in the Prague Municipal Library. It had warm light glowing inside, so I couldn't resist putting my head in...

The work is called "Idiom" by Matej Kren, a Slovak artist.

Very good!! The idea of getting the photo, the photo, and the art work. By the way do you know the name of it??

There are a few other shots of it on flickr that I've found. Someone called it the "Well", but I don't know if that's the actual name or just what they have named it. If I get any confirmation, I'll let you know.

Here are some other good shots of it:

The second one is very moody. A scary bookwell you wouldn't want to fall into.

So, one of other people who posted a photo of this replied to me. Hexe 75 says:

"It really is a fascinating piece of art. The artist's name is Matej Kren, he is Slovak. The "well" is my name of it, the real title is "Idiom", and it has been installed in the Municipal Library since 1998."

Thanks! I like yours too, though. I'm not sure it's possible to take a bad photo of this piece, it's just so intriguing.

I LOVE this piece of work.... although there's a part of me that's sad the books can't be read now.

hhmm. interesting. what happens if it falls down or is it glued together?

i would look in it too just because i wanna know what that light was. :)

Good question! I have no idea how they were held together. It wasn't obvious to me that there was anything other than gravity keeping it all in place. It was pretty cool when you looked inside. I don't think my photo of the inside really does it justice...
