VHM Panzi Exhibition

VHM Panzi Exhibition

I was invited to show 5 works of mine at The Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond, Virginia.
This group exhibition coincides with Genocide Prevention Month. This Exhibition is organized by the Panzi Foundation USA, which partners with Panzi Hospital in the Congo. All the art works shown there are related to women issues and life in the Congo, especially the war victims.
Please feel free to stop by if you happen to be in Richmond in the coming weeks or check out the Panzi website:

I paint over printed fabric and attached with hand stitches over hand- dyed cotton. I used this technique because textile and women have always enjoyed a very close symbiosis across time and space. Hidden floral fabric motifs in the human figure seem to suggest lost innocence and broken dreams. This is suggested once again in the foot that appears caught in two divided land.
