Over the Pacific

The moon, lava rock and salt spray on my lens. I spent the last hour of New Year's eve on the beach, gazing at the stars and immersing myself in the sound of the surf.

In the backyard

At my home in Hawaii. This leafy monocot has been growing in my mom's garden for as long as I can remember, and I never knew what it was called, just that it is used in numerous Vietnamese desserts. Apparently, it's called Pandanus amaryllifolius or pandan for short, and is commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine.
