"Taking pictures of your rug," I said.

"Why?"

"Because it's so pretty!"

"And what are you going to do with the pictures?" she asked, puzzled.

"Look at them!"

She rolled her eyes, picked up the prayer rug off the floor, folded it swiftly, and placed it on top of my purse. "Here. You can have it. Now you can look at it all the time."

I bought a prayer rug near Jama Masjid and the fact that it fits in my satchel is so personal to me. It has always upset me that churches are locked up these days. Makes no sense when you need a refuge to talk to God. Prayer rugs are comforting as a symbolic expression and way to be close to God. I love this beautiful story. Thankyou! Posted 15 months ago.
