Serenity at Santa Cruz

One in a bajillion !

So I've been missing in action for DAYS (weeks?), I know. Missed you all. Owe some of you emails/flickrmail. Gimme some more days to get back to you. The life is crazybusy, since (guess what!) I got a new job - starts Monday - and, on the side, I'm ALSO helping plan a Muslim youth conference scheduled for Saturday, June 24th at Union Square in San Francisco (you should come!), and... Yeah, I think that's basically it.

OH. And my pretty little digital camera hasn't been working for the past few days. The lens won't retract. I think it's because when I was at Santa Cruz last weekend (a week after this photo was taken, I went back again to hang out in the sunshine), I took bajillions of photos and probably got water and sand in it. Or something. I dunno. Or maybe the battery's burnt out. Do rechargable batteries burn out? Vat drama, yaar.

Anyway, God knows I literally have 10,000 photos on my harddrive to share with all you all anyway, so I can't complain of a dearth of photos 'round here. But my obsessed-with-the-internetS life is going to be slightly complicated for the rest of the summer. So I just went on a mini uploading frenzy to tide you over for a few days. (This is one of my favorite pictures.)

Seeding-Chaos: Thanks, buddy! And, dude, I'll still be around. You think I can abandon all you all for an entire summer?! Hell, no. But I really do need to look into investing in a laptop, because with the amount of conference-related emailing I do, plus blogging/flickr, plus work-related estuff I'll be doing, a laptop would make sense.

Anyone know anything about laptops? Help me out here. I need solid recommendations on what to consider, cuz I don't really know jack.

Re. wedding-shedding: YES, I know! If you mean the same person I think you mean, then I'm totally on top of that program. =) Seriously, though, the hell is everyone and their moth...err, brother getting married? People needa calm down with that.

Hashim - Thank you, that's high praise and much appreciated coming from you, crackstar. In all seriousness, though, I didn't do anything besides stand around and quietly stalk these kids for all of thirty seconds or so. THEY make the picture, and the yellow-orange totally does it for me. Me, I didn't do jack - the whole picture-taking process was so half-hearted here that I was amazed, when viewing these pics later, to see how well they turned out. I have a couple more of them that I'll try to post soon inshaAllah.

you'd be doing the ocean a favor - i betcha a million dollars water all over the world would taste just a tab bit better with a little chai in it. would make for interesting bathing though, maybe not good - but interesting for sure.

the cup... i'd actually prolly just grab it in mid air while it was thrown (i have panther like reflexes - and lots of practice dodging shoes thrown at me by my ami growing up), and go for a refill.

train tracks make the best leading lines...

'nuff said.

This foto is a beauty and I am very impressed with your spiritual engagement as well as being such a life wire!!
Laptop: someone who knows tells me they are all about the same and brilliant these days, it's just a question of Apple or PC. Lots of storage GBs I would say, for all your fotos!! And make sure you can stick your foto card in directly and it's WiFi-able.

CDM - aww "little whirlwind" has such a nice ring to it, thank you, lovely lady! =) Re. laptops, you're right, EVERYTHING is so high-tech these days that it probably wouldn't make a difference what I got. Thank you, though, for the heads-up on the "directly sticking in your foto card" bit; I hadn't even thought of that! Life is indeed busy these days, but I miss you all - need to upload more pics, and catch up with you all and your photos, too. =)
