Everything is illuminated

Everything is illuminated by yardsale01.
Need recommendations on wall dividers or shoji screens or bookcases or SOMETHING. Also, i'm narrowing my choices down for the coffee table. Everyone keeps saying to push the sofa away from the windows, but how do I keep it in place? The books piling up on my nightstand is starting to get ridiculous.

what about a bookcase as your divider? It seems like you have the books to put on it :) While I dont have personal experience with it, everyone at AT always raves about the Ikea Edpedit.

and yes, PLEASE move that couch off the wall. Mine isn't on a wall and I've never had trouble keeping it in place. The front two legs are on a rug and it sits there just fine.

Either the IKEA or those DWR translucent-ish ones. Whatever your budget allows. Why not put up the divider at the edge of the window frame (to allow walking room around the bed), and turn the couch so that the back is to the bed area and it faces the other windows?

Everything does not have to be against the walls.

Yes but the couch should really be pointed towards the tv :o

You can view a television on an angle. You can also buy swivel stands to turn the tv easily when you want to watch it.

'Does it really need to be the focal point of your studio?

I think that ikea divider isn't sufficient for me, and I only like the yellow rice paper, not the brown look :(

does the sofa have to be on that wall at all? it seems like it would make more sense for you to turn the sofa so that it's facing your other chairs and the back would face your bed. it would create a more obvious division to the space.

yeah but having the tv on the wall with no real furniture facing it would make viewing utterly uncomfortable.

I think the ikea expedit bookcase would make the perfect divider, putting it where the red nightstand is now.

Turn the sofa so that its back is to the bed area. that will create a natural divider. If you can get a double wide bookcase to go in between you can use it for storage of books, clothes on the lower shelves and whatever you like. find an area rug about 5' x 8' to put partly under you sofa to keep it from sliding around and move the great yellow chair to the living area to accent your sofa.

Not sure if this idea will help/work, but you could use some type of open shelving between the bed and couch and solve tv problem by placing tv on a turntable so that it can be turned to face either the bed area or the living area depending which place you are in.... just a thought. Good luck, I rearrange my furniture almost daily... it's a sickness!

Duh!!! Forgot to mention (maybe it's obvious) that the turntable/tv would go onto the open shelving...

okay.... so i've read through the comments on a couple of your photos now and heres what i think may work.

put the couch in front of the window, rug in front of sofa. use these for wall dividers (they are straight panels you can use on the wire curtain rod system from ikea, which is the best way to hang curtains ever, esp if you are using the curtain as a divider, as such) www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40078148 . put the tv in front of the divider, parallel to the couch. put the chairs on either side of the tv. on the walls on either side of the couch, you could put the low profile expedits from ikea and prop art on top with table lamps. on the other side of the divider could go a dresser or something of the like.
