　　台州是中国黄金海岸线上一个年轻的滨海城市,位于浙江沿海中部,上海经济区的最南翼。台州市中心处东径122度,北纬28度,属亚热带季风气候型。市区设椒江、黄岩、路桥3个区。下辖临海、温岭两市，玉环、天台、仙居、三门4县。全市陆地面积9411平方千米，海洋面积8万平方千米，人口546万。其中市区面积1536平方千米，人口140万。
　　台州兼得山海之利，历史上就有"海上名山"之美称。台州是浙江粮食的主要产地之一。是中国第一个水稻亩产超千斤、超两千斤的地方。台州也是中国主要的水果之乡，名果黄岩蜜桔和玉环文旦中外名。台是中国主要渔区之一，拥有辽阔富饶的东海渔场，渔业产量居浙江首位。

　　台州自古学风兴盛，为文化之邦。民风淳厚，社会安定。山海风光秀丽，名胜古迹众多。教育科技发达，人才辈出。物华天宝，为中国黄金海岸带上的富庶之地。
