Singing Time in the Tassili

This photo has been shot in Algeria, in 1991, in the sand desert close to the Tassili plateau. After a day walking in the desert, our Tuareg guides took a break to enjoy the sunset. The place was beautiful, surrounded by dunes with a view on the close Tassili plateau. One of the guides started singing and drumming on an emptied jerrycan. The ambiance was so special I still remember the tune.

Cette photo a été prise en Algérie, en 1991, dans le désert de dunes proche du plateau du Tassili. A l'issue d'une journée de marche dans ces dunes, nos guides Touareg ont fait une pause thé pour apprécier le soleil couchant. L'endroit était magnifique, cerné de dunes avec une vue sur le plateau du Tassili tout proche. Un de nos guides a commencé a chanter en utilisant un jerrycan vide pour les percussions. L'ambiance était si spéciale que je me souviens encore de sa chanson.

This my third (and hopefully last) attempt at restoring a scan from one of my old color slides. Apart from editing myriads of dust spots, I spent quite a lot of time trying to converge to the colors of my "reference" slide. On the positive side, I learned a few tricks that may be useful on native digital photos.

Eh bien, le résultat est concluant...belle qualité d'image et puis quand on est déjà allé plusieurs fois dans le désert, on revit la qualité de ces moments, impossible à retrouver ailleurs, tant toutes les sensations sont multipliées.
