Cusco Qoricancha convent built on Inca temple foundations
An example of the collison of Andean culture with Western Europe. This is the site of the Inca Temple of the Sun (Qoricancha means golden courtyard in Quechua). When the Spaniards took over Cusco, and ransacked the gold from the temple, they built the Convent of Santo Domingo over its foundations. The smooth gray wall demonstrates the best of Inca masonry.
