It's a nice idea but I think the strong purple tint is more noticable than the HDR effect.

First off, this is the Photoshop HDR group. :) Read the charter. Second, this is not an HDR image (or even a downsampled HDR image). This is a normal LDR image that you ran some funky filters on via Photomatix. Semantics are important here, since HDR means something very specific, and this comes nowhere near that.

a hdr is supposed to look natural
not FAKE like what most people think this is a good HDR but a real HDR should look like how you saw it in real life

Interesting to see the negative comments here. There are so many HDR pictures on this website which are simply horrific that I think it´s harsh to be so critical of this. Personally, I think he/she has brought the photo to life pretty nicely and has done an especially good job on the sky (where most HDR jobs look frankly nasty).
