Canstruction NYC 2006 |
Canstruction® is an international
charity competition where architects,
engineers, contractors and students they
mentor, compete to design and build
giant structures made entirely from full
cans of food. At the close of the
competition all of the food from the New
York City competition will be donated to
City Harvest.
New York City is joined by 70 cities
across North America who will hold
Canstruction® Competitions in the coming
year. Highlighting the creativity and
compassion of top architectural and
engineering firms, these astounding
structures are helping to change the
world – by lifting the spirits of those
in need, by raising public awareness,
and most importantly, by collecting
millions of pounds of food for local
food banks.
Structures are exhibited in the
beautiful showrooms of the New York
Design Center, 200 Lexington Avenue at
32nd Street. Each year the exhibition
opens on the second Thursday in November
and remains on view until the Wednesday
before Thanksgiving. Hours are Monday –
Saturday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. Admission:
One Can (or more) of food.
